Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Radio frequency (bose system)
« on: 08 February 2009, 10:05:04 »
I have the bose system in my 98 Elite Pre-face, unsure of which radio to be exact  ;D  Now im not sure if its a problem or just a characteristic of the radio, but when im tuning it in for a radio station it only goes up in odd numbers i.e 105.1,105.3,105.5 etc etc now this is a pain because most of the radio stations round here are 105.2, 103.2, if i use the RDS it cant seem to find them either ?

Is there anyway i can change it so that it goes up in single increments ?

Im thinking of changing the normal phillips head unit in my car to an aftermarket one, main question is, will the bose system still work with the aftermarket head unit  ?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Electrical burning
« on: 25 November 2008, 17:40:36 »
On my way home from work i experienced a burning plastic smell and some smoke arising from the footwell and the drivers side vent, i pulled over and turned everything off, thiking the last thing i turned on was the Heated rear window i pulled the fuse out for that and the climate control and anything heated  ;D got home with no further issues, i got the fuse panel partially out to have a look and there doesnt appear to be any wires anywhere that look as if they have been burning, and for some reason the smell of burning only seems to be localised around the headlight switch  :-? and the surrounding vent, then whilst i was thinking about it i remembered i had turned them off and then on again when i came out of work (dockyard)

Is there a chance it could be the headlight switch ?  :-/ :-/

Omega General Help / ATF leak !
« on: 31 October 2008, 17:06:56 »
Well it seems these problems come in three's  :) i suppose a good way to look at it is that they are all engine/gearbox related  ;D ;D :o

So anyway i noticed some oily patches on the ground after driving the car, so had a gander's underneath to be greeted by a very oily mess  :-? had a sniff at the suspicious liquid and as far as i can tell its ATF !?

Hellova mess as you can see, Whats the most common place for them to leak ?

1998 2.5 V6 Elite

As per my last thread regarding the replacement of the Big ends, i decided it would be worth while removing the engine as i wanted to change the gearbox anywho.

Whats the easiest way of engine+gearbox removal, Easier to come out in one lump ? im assuming things like the radiators will have to come out and obviously manifolds wil have to come off etc ......

Omega General Help / Engine knocking :(
« on: 23 May 2009, 23:31:04 »
Had a knock from the engine for a few weeks now, only used to happen when pulling away hard from standstill or a junction. it would clunk then start knocking, as of today its knocking all the time, sounds like a big end knock however if you have it in neutral and rev it, it doesnt knock ? its only when there is load on the engine i.e. accelerating  :-? :-?

Car is a 1999 MV6 auto, pre-face

Omega General Help / Gearbox conversion Q's
« on: 15 May 2009, 17:08:46 »
Im contemplating changing the autobox in my 1999 MV6 to a manual, i have read the FAQ and just wanted to ask a few questions.

Oil cooler pipes what happens with these ?

Does the manual box have to come off a V6 or is there another model i t can come from ?

Omega General Help / Possible wishbone issue ?
« on: 14 May 2009, 18:29:22 »
Car in question is a 1999 3.0 MV6 auto

I have noticed for the last couple of days the car "wandering" a little when driving, found a dodgy track rod end that needs replacing, when im accelarating hard from standstill there is a loud groan from the front and the front does come up quite a bit  :o

I have been out and had a look at the wishbones they "look" ok, what is the maximum allowable play in the bushes ?  :-/

Omega General Help / Idling/cutting out issue
« on: 09 April 2009, 17:46:40 »
Car in question is a 1999 3.0 MV6 Auto

When i bought it the previous owner experienced none starting and cutting out, crank sensor was diagnosed and supplied with the car, i fitted it couple of days after i purchased it.

The problem im having is when i get stuck in traffic/traffic lights for a period of time the idle starts to fluctuate really quickly up and down, when you try and pull away it just tries to die out as if it was running out of fuel, sometimes cutting out and taking an age to restart, it is also idling really low 400-500rpm i took the crank sensor out again and cleaned it but no difference, put a known working ICV on which helped the idle for a few days then it went back down to 400-500rpm, sometimes it even does it when its just sat idling outside the house.  :-?

Omega General Help / 2.5 > 3.0 Cruise control
« on: 31 March 2009, 19:50:44 »
Im now in posession of a 99' MV6 3.0, im breaking my 96 2.5 Elite for spares so i thought i would use the cruise control from the Elite and put it in the MV6

Only problem i can see is that where the cruise module would sit on the 2.5 there is what i can only assume is a waterpump on the 3.0 ?

How would i go about fitting it ?
