Gm exhaust numbers
« on: 19 June 2020, 15:19:08 »

After gm part numbers for 3.2 saloon exhaust. Centre pipes and back box with twin tips

Anyone recently bought one on trade club prices.
How much for centres and backbox

Not had any luck with aftermarket so thinking just buy GM.

The quality of the GM ones dropped to Timex Bosal (ie, lucky to last the warranty) type standards around 10 years ago. General consensus is they are not recommended any more

IIRC, Trade Club went out of the window a few years ago.
I've had a Eternal one on mine for over 5 years now.
Other then a bit of rust around the welds, its still going strong  :y

GM V6 centre pipe part numbers -
LH 93181157
RH - 93181162
Twin exit back box - 93192230. These have steel straight cut dummy tips, and an oval ish silencer - the 'aftermarket' version.
Original clam shell silencer with the slash cut stainless tips - 24425170 (but you won't have a cat in hells chance of one of those!)

I have fitted Bosal to mine - not had a problem with them at all. Good thick steel and a perfect fit. Fitted some angled stainless snug fitting tips to look like the original spec, but would have Bosal systems again without question.

Not perfect but better then the shitty Bosal / Timex shite.  :)
TBH, I do play my quite music loud so probably wouldn't notice it anyway  :D
Just make sure you get the double skinned boxes because they make a hell of a difference even to my ears

Not to mention that you likely won't be able to get one from Vauxhall in the UK. There might be a remote chance of a special order from Germany, but I would imagine it will cost more then the value of your car.

The best bet is one of these kits @ £112 delivered. Make an offer of £70 (+ delivery), they usually make a counter offer which will get the total outlay closer to £100. The  usually arrive from Germany within a week. Or perhaps Poland where they are made. However the listing says these kits are actually now in the UK, for a change.

Some members have also had success with these Gerlach kits @ £127 delivered from Germany. I think they're also made in Poland.

One issue with all of the aftermarket centre boxes is that the pipes are cut, to shorten the packaging length and reduce freight costs. They give you clamping sleeves to join the pieces back together. Functionally they're fine but it makes the exhaust slightly more awkward to fit.

Cheers for replys..

Yes seen ets ... eternal on ebay now all around 100 quid catback.

Some are clamshell type ... some are just oval centre boxs...any benefit to either or is one quieter??

Tios wise not bothered i have original slash cut gm tips of the original exhaust i keep fitting to whatever i buy.

U had clamshell cheap one last time sounded tinny.. this time i fitted a oval box dont know make engine sounds more growly v6 like however its hums like mad on a cruise and does my head in ....

Ive seen bosal backboxs listed no centre pipes though

You could always get a stainless system made to sound exactly as you want it...

Won't cost any more than a genuine one :-X

That's my point. Get a system tuned to be completely devoid of anything. After all, that's why it's called custom ::)

99% of custom exhaust shops could never do what your on about... they are just welders with premade boxs.

Mostly crap..

All im asking for is what people have bought whos got what and how they find it as standard mine qas silent on motorway but when foot down growled lovely. Bow it just crap as got some cheappy exhaust on it.

Ive heard eternal good as people seem to say theyre quiet. Is theyre any others.

Id buy a jetex except its wrong bore too big for n/a and tips are stupidly big look naff
