General Discussion Area / Re: iPhone 6 battery life
« on: 09 October 2015, 14:35:51 »
I've found the battery life better on mine since updating...

At the end of the day I usually have about 25-30% left - previously I was having to put it on charge after work.

After having a good 'play', it seems fine.  :y

Seems fine on the iPhone also, Not so keen on the way you close open applications apart from that  :y
Yeah, different for the sake of it.

I like what they did with Siri... For example you can now with the 6 Plus anyway just say "Hey, Siri" and ask it someting stupit etc.. Without holding the home button, BUT Only while it's plugged in, If you want the feature wireless without having the device connected to power you need to buy the latest devices  ;D

That's been a feature for a while - it wasn't in this last update.

All seems good on my iPhone 6 so far

I was looking at some home cctv a while ago and ended up getting one of these...

I bought it when it was on offer at £69.99 and find it really good for my needs, very handy to use on my phone when I'm away for the weekend for example - you get push notifications of movement or sound also.

Due to the number of miles I'm doing lately I've picked up a 2004 Nissan Almera 2.2Dci (136Bhp)

Obviously its nothing like an omega to drive, but it's got lots of torque - and I'm averaging 55-60mpg out of it. If you needed something bigger you can get the same engine in the Primera.

Omega General Help / Re: Aux Belt Tensioner
« on: 20 May 2015, 08:48:02 »
I picked up a new one from ECP yesterday - fitted it last night  :y

Surprisingly it was just two 13mm bolts - the old one was very rough to turn by hand, also I hadn't realised just how noisy it had become...

Thanks for everyone's input  :)

Most cars these days mainly use Torx bolts  ;) Both Torx sockets & Torx bits will be useful to anyone working on their car .... you can get a decent set of each fairly cheaply. Just be careful of some Torx sockets if they're all 3/8" as the body of the smaller sizes can get in the way, the set from Machine Mart has 1/4" 3/8" & 1/2" drive

Time to invest in some I think - I've never had a need for any before, I guess maybe my bikes/cars have just always been too old

Awesome - thanks guys

I don't suppose you know if they're torx bolts or regular?

(Just so I know if I'll need to get some Torx sockets before I start)

Omega General Help / Aux Belt Tensioner
« on: 19 May 2015, 08:13:04 »
Hi All,

I have been getting a bit of an odd whirring sound from the 2.2 lately - after much worrying if it was the torque converter or something serious last night I had a proper look, took the Aux belt off and the sound went.

From turning everything pretty sure it's the tensioner that's to blame - turning it by hand feels like the bearings have gone.

My main question is though (as I cant see them easily) is this held on with any special bolts - or any special tools required for removal?

Thanks

Brendan

General Car Chat / Re: Say 'hello' to Skoda Superb MkII

4x4 electric/petrol hybrid   :o :o Ooooh!!! Didn't see that one, what engine is in it & what's the performance spec???
No such skoda so, as Al says, must be a different marque.

That'll be a Mitsubishi PHEV then...  a guy at work has one, 30 miles on elec only - good to drive for the size vehicle, and saving a lot of money on petrol, and electricity as we have charging points at work to use for free.

They're quite temping tbh  :o

**Nice Superb too  :y

No one seems to have mentioned when coming up to a junction, end of motorway etc instead of just 'coasting' or braking press the sport button - in my experience coming down to about 30mph it'll hold the gear and use no fuel until then

General Car Chat / MOT day...
« on: 18 February 2015, 08:28:19 »
....it passed  ;D

After failing on a wiper blade, then passed - very happy with that, one advisory on a corroded brake line.

I'm still on the lookout for a cheap, good condition FL 2.5-3.0 with a manual box though

I got a quote last week for what I could get for my omega should it catastrophically fail the mot - top offer I had was £95

Right - update thanks to replies so far...

I re-tried with headlights on, the headlamp ones are working... although the aim is all wrong, I'll check tonight when it's not raining if there's power getting to the pump and if not replace.

For anyone else with an issue like this, as you look at the car from the front the pump on the right is for the headlamps, the one to the left and a bit lower down is for the screen.

Thanks

Yep - bottle is full, no warnings on any display - no sound from the pumps at all

Omega General Help / Windscreen / Headlamp washers stopped working
« on: 16 February 2015, 08:37:31 »
Hello All,

As per title my washers have stopped working - just before MOT time - neither the windscreen or headlamp ones do anything, I'm guessing it isn't the fuse as I think it's shared for the wipers and they work fine...

Any tips on where to start?

Car is a 2003 2.2 cdx saloon
