Step daughter has been in touch to say her Laguna needs new rear discs-not sure how she's determined that it needs new discs but that's by the by-and pads.Are there any pitfalls to fitting these?Is a wind back tool necessary for the caliper pistons?Car is a '03 plate 3.0L V6 estate with a proper handbrake lever[not one of those electronic types].

Most Renaults have a threaded piston in the calliper and offer one or both are a left handed thread too. So yes, a windback tool is advisable.

You can buy the whole set, including left and right-handed tools for less than £20. I no longer use large pliers on any sliding calipers, as this does a better job.

Thanks for that people Just been on the bay of e and ordered a 22pc set with left and right hand wind back bits @£16.99p Should come in handy for my own use after sorting her car out.

If you're changing discs they'll be expensive. They have the wheel bearring in them 👍

Its a good investment, even if the instructions on which adapter to use are normally wrong/poor/useless

That said, my cheapo set didn't withstand too much abuse, and is very bent, but still serviceable

Yes cheapest discs she can find are about £76 each.I think the wind back set I've ordered will suffice for the occasional use it's likely to see,at least that's what I'm hoping!

It'll be fine. Bit fiddly at times, but mines fine

Clean and oil the tools after use, as I reckon they'll be prone to rust otherwise, and you won't open it for several months again.

Makes'em a doddle to change though.
