Rad switches help needed please
« on: 12 August 2017, 18:19:47 »

There are two rad switches, one top and one lower down on the coolant rad. Which one controls what speed?

I own a 2.2 2003 that only has two fans, one for the coolant rad and one for the aircon rad. They are both on when aircon is on even in winter. Is this normal?

With the aircon off and when the engine reaches 100 on the scan tool both fans come on. Should there be just the coolant fan come on first at a lower temp, then shut off and only both fans come on at around 100 to stop overheating in summer?

Any help with this is appreciated as the car is going on its first very long journey soon when we go on holiday.

Try these simple tests:
Do the fans switch on and off automatically? If yes, then move on:

Does the temp gauge ever reach the red?
Does it lose coolant?

If the answers to those two is no, then you don't have a problem, and should worry about something important.
