what a sickener . i bought the belt , drove 25mls to put it on & got as far as taking the air filter box off then saw the tensioner on top of the engine mount with the bolt still through it & the lug off the engine attached. hence not repairable. irony of it all, his hp final payment is due in a few days time. as he needs a van for work he had to buy another. the guys that he bought his astravan from had 40plus vans in so he picked the one he wanted & they are putting a years mot on it & a cam belt also a spare key. in the meantime they hire & lease vans so they have provided a van whilst the one he has bought is ready.

J-B weld FTW. :y

Have the mounting come off the block or the head?

J-B Weld is a high temperature 2 part epoxy resin that'll stick almost anything in almost any conditions. It's kept the clutch release bearing of my Westfield together for 19 years and 65,000 miles, for example.

FTW = For The Win

Might be worth a try.. before selling the car quick!

If it's on an ali head then a weld might fix it, or even a replacement 2nd hand head.

the engine . its snapped & half of the mounting is still attached to the bolt. imagine a bolt with half a nut on the bolts threads. we toyed with the idea of trying to find a belt & do away with the tensioner &  putting just on three pulleys.

You could do that with a stretch belt like a Ford focus and suchlike uses :y
