Looks almost identical to mine (but a little older and with 200k less miles). ;D

Only just up the road, too.

"she had not been started in just over 3 years so put a brand new battery in this weekend and fired right up!"

Not a great way to bring an engine and auto box back to life after 3 years dormant  :(
MOT expired on 1st July 2015 so 3 years and 9 months ,possibly longer :-\ since it has been on the road  :(
what a shame
someone will need to spend big money after paying the big money it is up to on auction already to sort it out

My first thoughts... Until I saw the mileage  ;D

Also depends whether a battery has been left connected during this time as well, throwing a new Battery in and it may start first time, but the DBW ECU's arnt as robust as the earlier Non DBW ECU's and dont seem to like being stood up with dying batteries, can start throwing some wobbles, intermittent starting faults, ie, start one day and not the next and or followed by weird Fault Codes.

Where is the bonnet mat?

Looks like a mouse did some chewing in the engine bay at some point. Maybe it chewed the mat as well and they decided to remove it and hoover up the mess?.. Only explanation I can think of. :-\

|Probably had an accident repair at some time and the repairers CBA to swap the sound deadening material over. Or they did and it later fell off. ::)

Don't think the bonnet is original to that car to be honest

That could be made into a very decent omega for around £3K, including purchase price. It's a good colour too. But, although folk on here pretend to be omega fans, it appears that most would rather stick pins in their eyes than maintain one.

the one thing going for the car,the low mile part, has possibly been screwed by firing it up without preparing it (circulate oil, fresh fuel etc)
there are a few low mile Omegas for sale WITH mot about without taking a chance on something that has stood for 3 years and 9 months plus
66k
67k
12 months mot  ::) and all 3 pedals
67k

Any low mileage Omega is going to have been sitting around for large periods of time doing nothing.

Either that or it has been used for short trips to the shops, which is worse still.

Miles don't really tend to be an issue with Omegas, though. What is an issue is the state of the bodywork, sills, etc. and you can't really tell that without a good look underneath.

Three years parked on grass will see it looking like a seive underneath ;D

They'll do the thick end of 300k miles being spanked day in day out with little more than regular servicing.

Look up the MoT history for OU54AEW for proof :y

I'd argue that they'd rather fiddle about with them, than just do jobs in one go: front suspension rebuilds are a case in point. Or change the oil every 20minutes instead of fixing deeper issues. They've long been at the stage where they've been cheap because previous owners wouldn't stomach the expenses of a car that's costly to run but has no image. Now, most of them need or will very soon need, extensive welding to keep them going. Just like Granadas were 10 years ago. This is just natural.

Any old car with very low miles is going to have issues with things like brakes, connections, rubber parts etc that wouldn't be the case with something that had been in frequent use.

absolutely  :)

I have noted though, that a low mile car tends to not have as much rust as it's high mile ,same year equivalent, but that is not taking into account  other factors*

*rusty crusty sea-side cars   :(
cars that have lived in a garage :)
cars that are parked in long grass :(
cars that have had post factory rust prevention  :)

i think increased metal fatigue ,body flexing ,impact on structure plays a big part  :-\

it's just my observations, and , you do indeed need to closely inspect any car before purchase
