I've had this little chap for a week now and I must say I'm quite impressed with it. But, then again, I'm easily pleased.

I think I'd want to add this so it's not sticking out the dash, likely to get snapped off 

I've got bluetooth built into my 7" touchscreen ,(with bucket avoidance rear camera  ) but don't answer the phone while driving ,what ever it is ,they will call back or leave a message , (or phone 999 if it really is that urgent)
anything else can wait till I put the wiggle stick into P

Being a touch screen, it is technically hands free, and unlike the parrot screen, you can actually see who's calling

A very short extension lead came with it, so it doesn't stick out, as you say. In astra J the aux socket is in a little cubbyhole, so it rests nicely in there.

The original radio gramophone wax cylinder player  ccr2006  had a box of tricks behind that,that made it hands-free  , with a socket in the center console to plug the phone into
I didn't use that either 
though i do plug my phone into it to charge up

I've had a 1.7cdti design estate 75k ,12 months mot for £875 Ebay
a 1.6 life estate 98k 6 months mot £650 freind-face marketplace
a 1.7cdti life hatch 102k 11 months mot £900 ebay

i've seen 1.4 hatches with 12 months mot for £500 ish local on friend face marketplace

there are plenty of over-priced,rusty,rattley POS astras about too

very nice spec 
great on fuel ,cam belt is very easy 
my younger brother is using the design diesel ,i'd buy another but Mrs Builder insisted on petrol , so she has the 1.6 petrol estate ,(with bucket avoidance rear camera system  )

Yeah, those newer BT adapters are getting pretty good, esp if they (and the phone) use later BT standards for better audio quality.  The Hifi buffs will scorn, but a car is hardly the ideal listening environment.
