Square and round connectors on parts mixing
« on: 24 May 2017, 22:16:07 »

Anyone done this? The 2 pin connectors are pretty easy to make fit regardless of round or square connectors but the 4 pin ones seem a bit more difficult.
As far as I'm aware, there is no real difference in the parts except the stupid connector and my current car has square connectors while I have several new Bosch parts laying around with round connectors like coil pack that could be a fix for my stuttering problems...

Ofcourse I'm insane for thinking of this etcetc but I'm more interested in if anyone else has done it.

Do you still have the loom from the original engine?

Do the plugs on that match your parts stock?

Yes cause the basically new parts are from the donor car that I bought them for, and you must be thinking of swapping the whole loom out? But I would imagine that is a bit of a pita with the engine and tranny in the car? Would have been pretty easy to do while the engine was out I guess :(

Swapping whole loom would be first choice. Fiddly but easy enough to do engine in place... Should only need to go under the car for cat/box connections... Tie a bit of string to each plu to aid refitting the new loom.

Alternatively you can chop the plugs and solder the loom back together. ;)

Yeah I'm gonna go with the latter cause I only need the MAF and coil pack from the other car right now and got enough at hands with other cars. Soldering the plugs only takes some minutes and I had stolen a few plugs already from the old harness so more trouble than worth to swap it all at once.
