Discontinued Parts for Catera
« on: 06 September 2017, 15:36:16 »

Just put new tires on and now want to have car aligned, but the shop says the driver rear ajustment tube is seized and needs replacing.   I am struggling to find it, its a rear lateral link (rear tie rod) for my 01 catera v6- gm has discontinued the part, and i am coming up blank with ebay here in the states.  Anyone know where I may be able to source this part?

much appreciated,

Dave

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170257422707

probably won't show in ebay.com as shipping to usa is not listed, go to ebay.co.uk (or ebay.de, ebay.fr  etc..) and negotiate international shipping.

As long as the bush and knuckle joint are serviceable, the adjustment caps and adjuster bar on the rear track control arm can usually be freed off with a bit of heat. They need to be removed from the car, but this isn't a difficult or lengthy job. Once freed off, grease the threads before refitting to aid further adjustment if required at a later date.

I agree with JohnnyDog, its a simple job to remove the rear track rods, you can then free them up in a vice with  some application of heat. Or get your local 'friendly' garage to free it for you. Good luck. :y

Quite so. I managed to bend one last month, but found 3 in my spares heap, all seized up. With a little heat got one back into service.

You can never have enough screwdrivers,I've probably have around 50+ and yet I can still run across the odd screw that defies anything that I have in my tool cabinet.....hate cars! :)

Essential tool for any Omega owner. After breaking off a few exhaust mid section to cat section screws, I learned to heat them to red heat, let them cool a bit, then carefully unscrew them. It makes the job a pleasure, not the nightmare it used to be.
