exactly the same as the other 'suspicious' circumstances that have caused various listed buildings and the like to be'accidently destroyed'around the country over the years.
either this WAS a prank by a child in which case nothing will probably happen to him
or
it was an intensional felling by someone in power in which case nothing will happen there either !

yes i realise that.i was just trying to offer some advice regarding the sensor orientation and operation.

78
not having a front one to hand to look at but i assume the design is physically similar to the rears .the sensor 'pick up area' is exactly in line with the mounting lug.i wonder if replacements are identical or could be off centre in any way ? explaining the rotation difference or the body depth is in any way slightly different.?   as mentioned, replacing (or at least checking/cleaning) the toothed ring would at least make that part eliminated.

79
brilliant .glad you sorted it.
and also its nice for someone like yourself to come on afterwards and say the problem has been fixed.so many forums give helpfull advice to people and you never hear a word after !

General Car Chat / Re: The insanity of 'so called classic car' prices.

time will tell.
a lot has to do with nostalgia yes ,a lot has yo do with prices of everything post covid.
10-15 year old clit's ,corsas and the like that had fallen to under £1000 are now selling for double that .a garage near me has a few 107's ,c1's circa 2007-2013 that are SELLING for £4000 £5000. this is just the current shortage vs supply of used cars a different story to classics but an examlple of the crazy world we are in now !

the sight and idea of seeing lots of marinas, allegros, cortinas, capris, vivas etc etc around ourstreets again would unboubtebly be a wonderfull thing. definately.
the cars that were around then (along with the people, music,tv shows and the general state of humanity) were way better than nowadays living in broken britain.
thats a shame cos we will never ever get to that again and things can only get worse.
BUT  this is about classic car prices and yes the prices are now getting stupid but its our fault for paying it. if no-one would ever pay over £10000 for an old escort then the price would be lower but people do !
for example there are 2 opel mantas on ebay now. one is all bent and crashed and they want around £3000 for it ,the other is very grotty and needs a full respray and who knows what else and they want £15000 for it. you then have members of the owners club saying its good value ! .the world has gone absolutely crazy.
and yes any future remaining omegas will unboubtebly go up drastically in value with public suprise just like any other common cars did like morris minors, minis etc

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Re: cat shields / covers
« on: 04 September 2023, 09:49:44 »
this is true BUT they were fitted as standard so gm must have thought they were needed and the n/s one does protect the nearby steering pipes (to a degree) plus my mot man and the mot guide says about 'any risk of fire 'due to missing shields. its not totally clear 100% wether this relates to actual exhaust cover skins or body shields .mine are present and ok at the moment and sshould be ok for the next few years so it will give metime to find or make replacements .

and whilst we are talking about comfortable cars and not wanting to start a tyre thread ! i have just put some uniroyal rainexpert on one of my cars. thetransformation was unbeleivable. victor meldrew would be lost for words !
the softness of the compound on these tyres is amazing and whilst obviously due to this they wont be good for high mileages the ride comfort is the best i have experienced .i always have used goodyear on everything for years but i may have to reconsider. .....

General Car Chat / Re: Car covers
« on: 17 August 2023, 20:56:29 »
this is the problem of using car covers. they either stick to the surface like yours has or promote condensation .the breathable ones are supposed to overcome this problem .maybee ?
but also any dust that gets under it will scratch the surface if the cover gets any movement from wind so realy cars are better off uncovered. a good clean and wax coating regularly should keep the paintwork good.main issue ive found over the years when not using a car for many months is the surface rust that starts on brake discs. light rusting rubs off but anything more starts to cause pitting.

cant see the repair kit working as a permanent fix if at all ? ?
just out of curiosity why are yours going to be very expensive ? are they an unusually large size ?
replacements for most sizes are usually pretty cheap.i replaced 4 for less than £120 only last year ?

the starter has 2 wires to it, see if you can get a wire down to the smaller one. touching this to the battery positive will confirm if the starter is ok.
if it is then you need to find why its not getting 12v from ignition switch. usual suspect would be the gear lever inhibit but unusual to fail in neutral and park too !
