Help please. SWMBO's 1997 Astra Mk3 has started unlocking itself randomly and sometimes not locking all the doors. I am assuming it is the microswitch. I have removed it to get a replacement, the number seems to be Burgess 29/97 but I cant find a reference for this on the Web. Can anyone give me any pointer where I might get a suitable replacement.
Car started easily yesterday morning, drove about half mile to in laws house and stopped normally. On leaving tried to start, the demister fan was running on full so could not hear anything from the engine but car did not start.
All the regular light on the dash were showing as they would when turning on the ignition to position 2 but on turning to position 3 nothing happens.
Nothing dims, the headlights are still bright, I can't hear any clicking from the starter, just the usual buzzing from under the bonnet as things adjust.
Looking through posts on here I have tried putting 12v on the small solenoid connection direct from the battery whilst in neutral with the ignition in position 2 but still nothing.
Air conditioning not working, I have started the engine, aircon on Lo. Relay K60 pulls in and the front two fans start. The compressor does not start. I am thinking that if the relay pulls in and the fans start then there must be enough pressure in the system. If that is correct then is the only problem the connection to the compressor clutch? Or am I missing something? Thank you.
Is there any way to check the connection of the spade connector on the sender for the temp gauge without removing the plenum etc?
It may or not be relevant, but I had the cam cover gaskets replaced last November but due to lack of use have only just noticed the gauge isn’t working.
Firstly, the car isn't getting a lot of use at the moment. Started it this morning, first time since Thursday, a lot of condensation inside.
Noticed the display was blank where the date should be. Put the radio on and the station name was displayed as usual. Switched the radio off and date display blank again.
Finished with the car tonight and the display won't go out.
Quote 1: Strip existing felt re-cover 1st layer with 4mm underlay torch on felt. cover 2nd layer with 4mm polyester torch on felt.
Quote 2: Remove existing felt. Fix to prepared surface a three layer roof pour and roll system. Base layer 180 SBS partially bonded to roof deck. Intermediate layer 180 SBS sanded fully bonded in hot bitumin. Cap sheet 350 SBS mineral fully bonded in hot bitumin & clean lap finished.
The quotes are roughly the same for price.
Does anyone know which is the best system to use or the pros and cons of each.
The garage I took it to say it is very small and is coming from the head gasket. The general opinion on OOF seem to be that this is not very likely. I have posted a couple of images that I hope will show where the oil is appearing and am looking for any advice on where it might be coming from.

I have a couple of floodlights wired together and operated through an ordinary light switch off the lighting circuit, which is not RCD protected. If I connected another feed to them via a separate pir detector coming off the ring main, which is RCD protected, would it work, or is it likely to keep tripping out?
I have removed the lock from the barrel and have noticed that a couple of the tumblers are standing proud of the others. Is this what would stop the key from turning? If so will it require new tumblers?
