Collective noun for a group of goldfinches is a charm. Quite appropriate.

Most birds we get in Spain are very wary of humans, even blackbirds and robins. Probably down to Spaniards out hunting shooting anything that moves. My favourite is the hoopoe ( pronounced hoop oo) As well as being quite tame their plumage is amazing.

We had a hoopoe in the lane behind us a few years ago. It must have been lost as not native in UK.

Have 6 on a feeder this morning, all appear to be this year’s brood. They are the most beautiful bird, even if profligate wastrels with my sunflower hearts.  :y

1985 when we barely had any TV channels and video machines had wired remote controls I used to finish work between night and 1am, so no tv worth watching, we hired 2/3 videos a night and drunk a lot.

I used to work my way through a bottle of Bicardi most nights or a bottle of Purnod to make Red Witches, my partner, she supped 4 Heinikens & a 1.5 litre bottle of Lambrusco every night.

In all fairness these days I dont drink at all, but if I had company and in the right mood I would enjoy a drink or 5.

I’m surprised your liver is still working. 😎

Murphy showed up at Mass one Sunday & the priest almost fell down when he saw him. He'd never been to church in his life.

After Mass, the priest caught up with him & said, "Murphy, I am so glad ya decided to come to Mass. What made ya come?"

Murphy said, "I got to be honest with you Father, a while back, I misplaced me hat and I really, really love that hat.

I know that McGlynn had a hat just like mine and I knew he came to church every Sunday.

I also knew that he had to take off his hat during Mass and figured he would leave it in the back of church.

So, I was going to leave after Communion and steal McGlynn's hat.”

The priest was not pleased, but noticed that Murphy did not have the hat.

"Well, Murphy, I notice that ya didn't steal McGlynn's hat after all  What changed your mind?"

Murphy replied, "Well, after I heard your sermon on the 10 Commandments, I decided that I didn't need to steal Mc Glynn's hat."

With a tear in his eye the priest gave Murphy a big smile & said, "After I talked about 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' ya decided ya would rather do without your hat than burn in Hell?"

Murphy slowly shook his head. "No, Father, after ya talked about 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery' I remembered where I left me hat."

Had we remained as a cheerleading member of the EU, regardless of our ability to have chosen our own vaccine programme, and given the already fragile relationships between various other member states, it would have been politically unthinkable that we would not have encouraged all members to join in an EU wide vaccination programme.

We were never a cheerleading member of the EU ???
After joining we acted like a stroppy teenager in detention.
Which is why we never got the full benefit of being part of it.

You have a short memory Nick, we were under Cameron until the Brexit vote.

Some years ago I had some 'Buy to let' properties. Just small 2 or 3 bed terraced, in our nearest large town. When looking to buy, I always offered well below the asking price, and sometimes got lucky.; It all depended on the sellers situation. Forced move? Repossessed? etc. it was surprising what was possible. Had my circumstances been different I would have gradually bought more. They proved an excellent investment, all sold now.
