Got access to the genuine kit here including the delights of a Toughbook  :y
Well, I think my IAM needs updating...   ...it seems rather than it being a very new firmware, it might be a very, very old one ;D

Connected up the electricity hose to it. Again.

I really should use it. Or actually test the battery, esp as I now have a check drop tester.  But its cold outside....

Signed SWMBO up for her new car. Due end of March ;D

First you make her live in a burger van, now you buy her this... Why do you hate her?  ;D

That is one ugly mother f*ucker.

Why do manufacturer's seemingly go out of their way to make cars so ugly?

This week I have Changed the oil and filter - fixing 98% of the oil leakage in the process as the filter was loose. (DOH)

And cleaned out the Breather tubes and pipes.  There is no oil leaking from the cam cover gasket that I replaced about 30K ago.

Need to stop the small leak from the crank sensor.

Have discs and pads sitting ready for when I can be arsed.

Finally got round to changing the oil on TBE.  Thanks to that Gixer fella for use of a warm area to do it, and he also went round the suspension while it was in the air.

They're mimicking the 'premium' German marques. In looks anyway; the Korean stuff is cheap to buy, own, repair and get rid of, while never breaking down or annoying you with German why do it the simple way if there's a more complicated method that works engineering/styling/pricing/ergonomics/retailing/etc

A few pre-MOT checks.

Sidelamp bulb blown.
Dead post-cat lambda sensor bank 2.
Seized headlamp washer pump.
Bonnet release not playing. >:(
Front disks, pads, tyres fubar. ::)
Front offside outer track rod end has a country mile of play in it. :o
A bit crispy in places. :-\

This.

The car is £11,918, plus £429 for 3yrs servicing.

Autotrader tells me it'll be worth about £6,000 at 5yrs old (that's what a 5yo Picanto  will set you back today, and hers is "top spec" so it's a realistic minimum to shift it without much hassle).

Including the interest on the loan, plus £300 for the extra 2yrs servicing, gives a total cost of ownership of £170pcm including tax and insurance.

So, for just under £40 a week, SWMBO gets the car she wants, taxed insured and warrantied, and I never have to lie under it.

I call that a bargain.  :y

We'll be taking out the Kia PCP (to get the £1000 incentive) then paying it off after the minimum 120days and funding the car with a 5yr loan for the full amount.

So going with PCP, but only the good bits ;)
