General Car Chat / Scuttle panel
« on: 27 June 2013, 19:38:37 »
Had noticed that my panel had a crack in it, adjacent to the offside wiper spindle. Wasn't really worried about it, though it was quite large, but have since sourced a replacement. I have just realised the new one is broken too, where the torx screw attaches it to the body, but that's easily sorted.
Anyway, I'm wondering whether to replace the foam part to the underside of the panel. Is it worth it? And does it serve any real purpose? I'd be inclined to put it back on but just wanted to see the general consensus.

General Discussion Area / Absolutely effin' ragin'
« on: 18 June 2013, 13:47:09 »
Had a parcel to post. It was quite heavy at 2.4 kg but I got a couple of quotes on the net from couriers and expected to pay around £5 or £6. I was working and my son said he would help out by taking it to the PO. I told him to take the cheapest option as I expected it to be slightly more expensive than the courier. God love him he just paid the quoted (cheapest) price at the counter. How much?

£13 !!!!!!!!  >:(  >:(  >:(

Absolutely gutted! If he'd contacted me first I wouldn't have let him post it.
I'm a little ashamed and embarrassed that I let him take it in the first place, but I'm really cross at the difference in price  >:( >:(

Sorry, rant over  :-[

General Discussion Area / Paypal postage?
« on: 15 June 2013, 15:04:16 »
Anyone use this service? I am trying to access it for the first time today.
According to the limited info currently available on PP, the 'print a postage label' should be visible next to the relevant transaction, but it's not.
Is there something I need to activate or select first?
In my profile the postage option is active.

Might just be easier going to the post office, as it's starting to get to me now  >:(

General Car Chat / Plenum bolts
« on: 10 June 2013, 22:19:31 »
Are plenum bolts unique to vx? Or are they a standard size and thread that could be obtained elsewhere?
Just wondering if a longer bolt could be sourced and still fit properly?

Omega General Help / Behind the ashtray?
« on: 09 May 2013, 18:43:58 »
As a matter of intetest, when you remove the ashtray is there a void behind it, or is it 'blocked off'?
Either way, is there an opportunity to run small cables through towards the back of the dash?

General Discussion Area / From Orange to GiffGaff .......

....... on iPhone?

I'm considering moving from one to the other. My contract is up and I don't really need a new phone, but to get a plan that includes 1gb of data, its going to cost £31 on sim only, minus 10% loyalty. Obviously GG have a plan at £12 which would be suitable.
Anyone had any problems moving provider?
And will an iPhone need to be unlocked?

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Wanted - coil pack
« on: 19 April 2013, 12:05:09 »
After my little episode this morning I may be in need of a coil pack, particularly 2-4-6 bank. I've added to Daz's breaking thread, but has anyone else got some in case they're gone?
That's providing the car is not damaged further, though I am hoping the pack has absorbed anything else  :-X

Omega General Help / Broken down!
« on: 19 April 2013, 09:00:17 »
Just coming back from school run and car started to make a weird rattle!
Have pulled in and think I'll need recovery, as it doesn't sound too healthy and I'd be loathe to try and coax it home.
Did the pedal trick and have 0300 and 0302 misfire codes.

Bu@@er  :(

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Gutted!
« on: 15 April 2013, 10:13:20 »
Since I put the stereo back into my car some 16 months ish ago, the 'CDC Open' warning has flashed. I've thought about fixing it several times but my attempts to remove the unit were always a bit half hearted. I had always believed that the spring in the switch was broken, and do the unit always believed the door was open. I had planned to remove the arm from the switch so that it would not know when the door was open at all.
So, this morning I went for it! But I'm sure you've guessed - in the end the fascia clips broke  :'(
So the unit is still in the dash, the fascia is on the seat, and the radio is still on! More importantly the 'CDC Open' indicator is not flashing! There are two wires running from the switch which weren't connected since I got the car and I don't know if they have any function? The spring in the switch is not broken so I'm guessing these wires may be to blame.
Anyone got any ideas?

Omega General Help / Steering rack ....
« on: 29 March 2013, 00:22:31 »
Got my wheels aligned today and in the 15 yard drive from the back of the garage to the car park the fitter decided there was a problem with the steering rack. I haven't noticed anything but maybe I'm just used to my car.
Anyway, it'll take an hour to apparently diagnose any faults and then who knows what would be next  :o
So in an effort to self diagnose any problems, is there anything I can look out for or check? Do Omegas even have steering racks?

TIA  :y

General Car Chat / Another locking wheel nut gripe ........
« on: 01 March 2013, 18:58:08 »
Went to change the front pads on SWMBOs 206 today. No bother on passenger side, but when I tried to get the locking nut off on the drivers side, the tip of the bolt sheared off  >:( aaargh!!!
So that wheel is still on - bad light stopped play!

I haven't had the front wheels off since forever  :-X though new tyres were fitted about eight months ago. Not sure I can blame the tyre fitters, but its a right pita! Definitely time to source some spare wheel bolts and get rid of the locking ones, which were fitted by peugeot from new.

I guess it'll keep me busy over the weekend  :D
