Spin on oil filter coversion.
« on: 26 November 2012, 18:43:29 »

When doing this mod, what filter is used, and how much do they cost? Gen VX, rather than pattern :y

Guide spot on, but only ever had the dreaded screwcap ones on my Omegas ::)

:y presumably it has a part number ::) having to try a new dealer for parts so want to be able to double check what they're saying/selling :y and also how much...

Nothing wrong with Andy C  :y he is always very helpful and knowledgeable  :y but there's a main dealer at the end of my brothers road, and given that I'm down there most weeks, seems silly to pay for posting oil and the like :y

VOF93, around £1.70+VAT TC now.  Not enough of a saving to make the mod worthwhile on savings alone IMHO.

Ta :y

Is more for convenience tbh :y takes an age to undo the cap enough with the ratchet to be able to spin it off, and I always seem to end up with a face full of oil ::)

Time will tell, but only being able to turn the cap 15° at a time is really frustrating. Takes me 10mins tops to do an oil change on the Vectras, against 20 on the Omega :-[ sure that extra is faffing to get under the car to get the cap off, the back out to change the seal and filter, then back under the car..... at least with the spin on there'll be alot less bloxing about involved :y

Spin on filters always have dirt around rubber o-rings. Even if you wipe contact surface, dirt can still get inside filter.
I wouldn't pay $60 for adapter.
