Towbar mounting bolt torque...
« on: 07 October 2014, 12:59:40 »

Having slackened the four bolts on one side of the towbar to drop it for repair work, I have nipped them up to clamp the exhaust hanger repair in place. They will need tightening properly...

Question is, what torque should I tighten them to :-\

I checked them once on the old estate we had.... they were all lose!

Tightened them all back up and rechecked after towing a few times and they were still tight.

Neither. M10 bolts generally have a 17mm head.

Yep, done with a calibrated lean on a breaker bar.

Although, as I have torque-wrenches handy, I do tend to use them when the required figure is readily available.  I did once torque some Jag XK headbolts with a 3/8 torque-wrench which I can't recommend.
