Have you ran the engine or is this all by hand?
Waterpump is essential on the 2.2 as it's what tensions the belt
Well there you go, I must have completely mis-remembered how the timing belt goes on, thought there was a separate tensioner.
Going senile in my 30's - not a good sign
Umm.. There sure is a tensioner.. At least I have.
I think the Blue is for the 1.6/1.8 small blocks and the Gold for the 1.8/2.0/2.2 big block engines
Here's what I used as locking tool

Gold one looks the same size as the one I bought. Then again, I went and lost the damn thing before doing mine.
TBH I really dont think you need one for the Desmond, crank stays put and its easy to set the cams as you go as there's only 2 of them. S how I did mine anyway.
So long as you do a couple of full rotations by hand and check everthing's still TDC and you'll be fine.
Don't suppose Martin with the garage near Winchester would still be up for it?Good shout
I promise not to persuade you to Tech 2 my car this time
New cat-back sections are on the list for the desmond (slight blowing and looking underneath, there are half a dozen spots on the way out), had a ring round and my local places want no less than £380 to do the work .
Now I realise that everyone has to make a living, workshop costs etc etc. But the parts are available online with a 2yr warranty for under £100 so I would have thought it would be a similar cast for trade (at most). Even allowing £150 for the kit, I've yet to see an exhaust change take an hour, even allowing for two, that's still charging the sunny side of £110/hr . Even my BMW main stealer doesn't have the balls to try and charge that much!
Methinks they either don't want the work or are out for a scalp.
I really didn't want to DIY this as I don't have a lift or a pit, but for over £300, I'd best get my a$$ on the driveway.
Eternal/ETS and DIY is the only way to go
I think i have accidently come across 3 vauxhall cam locking tools unintentionally
Hope you wiped them
Of course
But as they are less than a fiver, I wouldn't be overly concerned
