If Injector 3 is the first to receive fuel then it makes sense that it would be the first to be affected by contamination. Swapping with another injector would temporarily resolve the issue but it will eventually return.

The cat code suggests that what's reaching the cat isn't what it's expecting to see. As you've potentially 2/3 of the injectors not performing correctly that points to either a contamination or delivery issue...

The two aren't mutually exclusive as contaminated fuel will make the pump work harder and will eventually kill a weak pump.

Run it more or less dry, drop the tank, clean the inside of it and replace the pump and pick up strainer. You could add new injectors to the list as a belts and braces solution depending on what you find in the tank.

Will have a look at the fuel system later and see whats involved.
Just read the codes and it was a bit of a surprise. Low Cat efficiency.  ???
Does it clear?

The back boundary is a ridge line, the patios terace down to the house with a 4' retaining wall across the back with a flower bed across the front of each level and steps, then finally there's a soak away outside the back door which seems to drain out under the the drive  ??? Hopefully it will all soak away... :D

Apparently I am paying the water bill in July ;D

Apologies re inbox.

I’ve just done my occasional eBay browse, and seen this car advertised at £1500, rather than the
£275 I asked for it.

It’s still there is anyone is interested - RK53 ZWT.

Nothing to do with me, just an observation.

At £275 I got  / offered a bargain… £1500 for a scrapper (that’s all it’s good for without significant work) is just ridiculous.
Apparently it has a fresh MoT so scrapper might be a bit judgemental.

You won't miss the heated steering wheel if you grew up with ice on the inside of the windows like I did. ;)
 ....

I like the heated steering wheel on my ML despite having grown up with ice on the inside of my bedroom windows  ;) ;)

even had an outside toilet till I was 7  ;)
A toilet? You must be posh :D

Heated steering wheel is one of those things you wonder how you ever managed without... so much easier than trying to warm your fingers on the heated mirror.

Havent checked code yet, but I expect cylinder 3 misfire, because it always is. Even when I swapped spark plug, injector and stick coil  from 1 to 3.
A mechanic on another forum said that he has found that cylinder related codes on these should be taken with a pinch of salt, and can be a red herring.
Think its the last one on the rail but will need to check.
Im now also wondering if it could be a sign of fuel pump starting to fail. Not sure how to diagnose for sure though.
By the time you have removed it to test, you may as well put a new one in  ;)

Just how much mess pressure washing the patios made :o

In my limited defence, they haven't had much more than an annual scrub since we had them built 22 years ago :-X

That said, they look like new and I can honestly say that I am glad I went with a pressure washer with a water cooled motor... Three hours almost non stop without so much as a splutter 8)

Run the tank dry/drain and refill with Vpower. And replace the injectors...

Is the latest code still for cylinder 3 and is that by chance the first cylinder on the fuel rail :-\

Fuel would sit on top of any water and the pump should pick up from the bottom of the tank. Is the tank pressurised (positively or negatively) to the extent that there's an audible noise when you undo the cap?

131
Best do that then ;)a

Noice 8)

They will probably blame you for that, they will say that you were putting the screen under stress by opening it and closing it by lifting it and lowering it with the same corner each time. :-\

Is it just the one side?

Yep....but I always open and close from the centre. There is a small flap to get my fingers under.
I can see why that had a certain appeal >:D

If you're happy with how it rides and don't really use the car then  it's upto you, but equally, if you do change them then you will notice the difference. You have to remove the front springs if you change the front shocks anyway so it's only really the extra cost of the parts... Likewise the rears will practically fall out once the shocks are removed.

If it were mine I would do them if only for piece of mind, but you might get another 20-30k out of the springs/shocks as they are.
