Programme about Billy Monger, the young race driver who lost both his legs in a crash last year. Might be worth a look.

General Car Chat / Front indicators on newer cars
« on: 14 June 2018, 19:31:43 »
Haven,t been on the bike for over a week due to getting over a persistent stomach bug.(Aaah ;D). Anyway, back on today and either my eyes are getting worse or are modern lenses less visible in strong sunlight? Found when crossing over roads from a bike lane, (i always look, that,s how iv,e managed to reach 73 :)) that some of the said indicators are nearly invisible when the sun is straight on the front of the car. Anyone else noticed this?

General Discussion Area / Grisly but poetic justice
« on: 13 February 2018, 08:25:20 »
Just read on BBC teletext about a poacher in Kruger National Park in S. Africa. He was attacked by a pride of lions and was almost completely devoured. All that was left was his head and some bones. Sorry but can,t do linkys. Must be my gallows humour but i found this slightly amusing. Hopefully it will put other poachers off.

General Car Chat / What a surprise, not.

Reading on Beeb ceefax this morning, (sorry no linky) that the number of cars with no VED has tripled since the abolition of the paper tax disc. Blimey, who would have thought it!  ::)  :D

General Car Chat / Changing wheels
« on: 22 October 2017, 16:11:44 »
Looked at a 55 plate Saab 9-3 estate today. It has 17" wheels but SWMBOs  aching bones don,t like a hard ride. Is it possible to use the 16" ones off my CDX Desmond? This is in case i have a catastrophic MOT in December.

Biked up town today, still quite gusty at times but still some of the above insist on putting their advertising A boards out despite the weather. Was quite amusing watching some of them fly down the road, until someone got hit by one. Hope they sue the buggers. Saw the same thing a few weeks ago when a McDonalds sign toppled onto an elderly lady. When i went to help her she insisted that she was ok and at least a staff member came out to take it away.

General Discussion Area / Anyone else read about this?
« on: 12 October 2017, 22:08:56 »
Went on AOL to check my e-mails and a headline on their news site reports that the the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma in the Canary Islands is sending out small tremors, been about 40 so far around 2.5 on the Richter scale. We all know how dodgy AOL and Huff Post are for their scaremongering. If it does go up big style then it could be very interesting to say the least. It was the subject of a documentary on the Beeb a while ago and if it collapses into the sea it would trigger a huge tsunami. Sorry i can,t do a link.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Sodding alarm
« on: 24 September 2017, 18:52:40 »
I,ve had my Desmond for over 4 years and had no problems with the alarm. Over the last few days the alarm goes of around 11pm. The neighbours must love me. ;D. It doesn,t do it every night either. I,ve only ever locked it by pressing the fob once so would pressing it twice help?
I,ve Please read the manual :D and don,t find it very clear for my poor old addled brain. Any ideas anyone?

« on: 11 September 2017, 17:21:08 »
What an awesome feat by Chris Froome to win the Vuelta a Espana after winning the Tour de France. Also to be up there at the finish of yesterdays stage in Madrid fighting to maintain the green points jersey. His motivation must be fantastic. Well done again. :y

General Discussion Area / M1 minibus crash
« on: 28 August 2017, 14:23:56 »
One of the two arrested truck drivers has appeared in court this morning. Seems strange to me that he lives and works in the UK, but needed an interpreter for the hearing.  Was he using the no speak English excuse or was our legal speak not very understandable to him? What a waste of eight lives.

I Know that some of you folks on here love cyclists, ;D but after three gruelling  weeks of watching the Tour de France on the telly it,s great to have a British, (yes i know he was born in Kenya), winner again. Well done Froomey, you are a legend  :y
