Nothing on the Omega, but I did work on the Nissan after 8 years of it sitting with no cambelt & sprockets and:

Pulled all six coil packs and spark plugs
Replaced the back plates (which have the timing marks)
Refitted the sprockets
Refitted the (new) idler
Refitted the cambelt & (new) tensioner
Refitted the cam angle sensor
Refitted the cam belt covers
Refitted the spark plugs & coil packs
Refitted the balance bar & vacuum hoses
Refitted the thermostat & coolant transfer pipe
Refitted the coolant return pipe
Refitted the alternator & PAS belts

Then ran out of time (and patience) to finish off refitting the radiator & radiator fan, intercooler to throttle body hoses and fill & bleed the coolant .. and then see if it starts.

Oh .. and sliced myself open (twice), bled quite profusely onto the gravel driveway, and swore quite a bit. But I think that's mandatory when working on cars...

Picked the car up from where it was left last night and nursed a slight hangover :-[ :-[ ::) ::) Got home to notice that the birds had had a real party and covered it in crap so had to clean the worst of it off... I think a visit to the cleaners will be on the cards for this week ::) ::)

But I did fit new wipers and the drivers door mirror the other day :y :y

well the new estate now drives very very similarly to the old faithful, which is great news for me!! now maybe i can start to like it more than the older one!! spent most of the day removing the poly donut bushes from fdf (5years and 54kmiles and not an iota of wear anywhere on them they look like new still)and replacing them with some senator ones i had in "stock" lol and now i know what people mean when they say they dont fit, well they dont initially i agree, but removal of a approx 8mm from the tower allowed them to sit in there very very snuggly, and after tearing up and down the local tracks (bumpy and undulating)drifting and generally giving it some beans to test it, can report senator bushes modded this way work very very well, they have no voids in them so are in actual fact stiffer than std omega bushes!! and they have not moved, which i understand was a problem someone had with them?also removed the air shocks from fdf an fitted them to the new one kpd, along with the poly bushes, and it has made a hell of a difference to the car!!! it now drives properly!! all in all well worth doing!!still cant get it to pull as well but am working on it!! next step is wishbone on drivers side as it has slight play in it, then i can get on with making the engine sing properly!! I know it has a boost leak at the moment which is down to someone not fitting new inlet gaskets, when they did the glowplugs, sort that first then maybe up the boost to fdf levels, but am slightly worried the maf may throw a wobbly!!  :y

Would these ones be worth buying then for my MIG. Long as i lop 8mm off the top?

Came out saturday morning to find bonnet could not be reopened after I had closed it on Friday. struggled and struggled to open but after going to local motor factor to buy a mini torch, and explaining what happened to me I was advised to get someone to assist in pulling bonnet release whilst I pushed down and then pulled up.  It worked :) :).  Now stuck again although I greased spring etc.

Does anyone know how to rectify problem? except not closing bonnet ;D

huffed and puffed in attempting to remove camshaft cover then tapped with soft faced mallet and wondered how can it be so hard to remove, and saw  i had not removed last two screw/studs. :-[ :-[ :-[.

Proceeded to remove cam pullyes and although holding cam in place with a spanner whilst undoing screw, I had not held it tightly enough and it turned :'(.  Although turned it back i'm not sure if replaced to original position. I realy pray I have :-/ as I don't want a nasty result when removing head  later in the morning to take to engineers.

Not done anything to my car but have been spanking the living daylights out of Mrs. KW's MX5 in Wales since Friday.

Was going to be cleaning out the throttle body, IACV etc this weekend.  Weather rubbish on Saturday and on Sunday realised I had forgotten to pick up new gaskets, oops.  Had to settle for a quick clean through of the breath pipes (small one was quite fouled up).

At least its idling a little better now, rest of the job next week.

Got the pad warning light up last week or so ago and done the pads on saturday.

Or rather, stripped them out, chipped the rusty ridge off the outside of the discs then replaced the grooved through wear indicator.  The pads still had 3 to 4mm on them!

(Got a disc set at the dealers so just need to wait for a few months and then replace the lot in a oner....   :)   )

I normally replace my fronts before they hit the wear sensor, as they seem to cook less frequently when they have plenty of meat on them

Drove to and from work in my mobile shed to find that when I got home my previously working handbrake has decided to not work any longer.
I found this out as I nearly put the lever inside the armrest  :o
