Code C0075
« on: 03 September 2016, 20:06:39 »

Hi guys

Before I go looking for replacement ECUs and the like, or go stripping everything down, can anybody confirm the cause of this code C0-075
7
The description is "Front Right Inlet Solenoid Valve Circuit Malfunction"

Started this evening, driving along and the ABS light comes on suddenly and stays until you turn the ignition off. After a while, unknown timescale, it will relight again whilst driving. Done it to me twice this evening so far. Have reset it okay on the Tech but it will come back. No juddering beforehand on brakes or anything, which would indicate a physical fault and the system tripping to "safe mode", so guessing pure electrical or valve sticking.

I will probably need to run the test procedure on the Tech 2 to confirm valve movement, but though I would ask here first to confirm my thoughts.

Oh globbits.

Run the scenario on TIS and other than getting the plug connection off the control unit to make sure it is all clean inside, it is coming up with K50 Control Unit on diag code E01.

Looks like a replacement ABS unit assembly unless you can confirm otherwise TB?

I am guessing I could use any from a 4-pot and reprogram with Tech 2 as V6 has TC so would be incompatible?

I believe they can be repaired. :y

You mean sending away to BBA? Or another way?

as it is a daily driver, I was thinking of simple swap over

There was a thread on here about it, IIRC there is a firm who do them, but yes, you have to send it to them. :y

Can anyone confirm what other varieties over than the x20xev and the 2.5td ones will fit?

Vauxhall epc is showing as them being specific, but we know that is not always true.

It would need to be post 1998 if the car is a MFL, and suitable for a 4 pot petrol.  The Ident code is probably the key (2 letters).

Tech2 can then put any required config on.

If time allows, I'd consider repair. Car can be used without ECU, just protect the valves, and obviously ABS (and speedo and other speed related bits) wont work. I don't think the car will be in limp, from memory.

Unable to check code, as 3,000 miles from all my info.

Well, small update.

Managed to get the light back on today when I got in the car before setting off, so connected the Tech 2 whilst it was still active. Typically, it would not let me run the test procedure until I had cleared the light 😫.

So, once cleared, ran the test and completed as all correct in operation. So I have run about half the reservoir through the OSF corner and will wait to see if it happens again. I have also managed to break every bone in my hand (feels like it) removing the multiplug and making sure it was all clear inside with as good a connection as possible.

If it does come back on, I will be on the lookout for a replacement module assembly (code DF if I remember correctly) as it is either a sticking valve or the electrical module is starting to fail unless anyone has another thought on it?

I'll be honest, ECU failures on non V6 do appear to be rare.

If its a genuine sticky valve, that might mean a complete ABS unit replacement, not just the ECU portion.  Given their reliability, a 2nd hand unit would probably suffice - and you have Tech2 to get the air out when you replace it.

Well a little update....

Finally got round to changing the modulator and control unit for a known good one. Pedal certainly feels firmer than ever, even though I have bled the system at least 3 times since I have owner the car.

No lights so far either.

I agree, it is a PITA getting to, I can only imagine how hard it would be on a V6. Just getting a spanner to the pipes is almost impossible. Also managed to lose one of the supporting pegs into the chassis rail, so had to fabricate another one.
