In the past a regular donator ... but not been allowed to for the past 16 years due to a proscribed illness .... shame really as my blood group, whilst not "rare" is one of the minor ones ...

All I can say is .. "well done" to those that do ... and if you don't (and have no specific reason for not doing so) .. please give the matter a few moments thought.

It's not difficult or painful and can save many many lives

You surprise me Nige, when I was flying in the mob, they wouldn't let aircrew donate! :(

And I suppose it follows on quite nicely from my last 'wondering' of why don't ladies fill up with water when in the swimming baths  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I did enquire of a former girlfriend - she simply replied, “I could tell you darling but my lips are sealed".

Excellent ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :y :y :y :y

Now, its common knowledge if a bloke has a w**k with his left arm, especially after lying on it, it has a sensation as if someone else is doing it.....

My Question is, does the same apply to women?  Both manually or with toys?

Discuss....  :D :D :D

How would that work then? :y

Can I leave my Lexus Hybrid Drive vehicle for an extended period of time, while on holiday for example, without having to recharge the battery?

As with all vehicles, if left for an extended period of time without use, especially in severe weather conditions, it may need recharging. However, in the unlikely event that the battery discharges completely, the petrol engine will start the car. :-?

Lexus Hybrid Drive technology then ensures that the advanced compact battery will be efficiently re-charged as you drive. At cruising speeds, the generator will convert surplus engine power into electricity. And when decelerating, regenerative braking ensures kinetic energy is intelligently captured and converted into electricity to recharge the battery.

This is an extract  fom our local Neighbourhood Watch bulletin:

A new way of dealing with offenders of low level crime and anti-social behaviour

Some offenders of low level crime and anti-social behaviour in Wiltshire and Swindon are now being held accountable for their actions within the community rather than in the court room.  Wiltshire Police officers have been trained to use a form of restorative practice called Local Resolution which puts victims at the heart of the process by giving them a say in how justice should be delivered and involves work with partner agencies, such as local councils.

Wiltshire Police Local Resolution Project Manager Wendy Moore said: “Given the right conditions, officers are using their professional judgement and discretion to help create resolutions in line with victims’ wishes, such as by offenders giving verbal or written apologies, paying fair compensation and repairing damage they caused. All parties have to agree to the Local Resolution and if an offender fails to carry out their agreed actions they can be arrested and prosecuted.”

Since May 2010 more than 480 Local Resolutions have been carried out in Wiltshire, for example:

An employee who stole building supplies from his employer admitting responsibility and paying £400 back in full for the supplies. He was subsequently dismissed from the company.

A 16 and 19 year old cleaning off graffiti they sprayed on a car park wall while supervised by a council employee.

Police will still arrest and prosecute for offences where this is the right thing to do. Local Resolution is partly driven by the national Flanagan report into policing which said investigating of crime had become overly driven by a performance regime, rather than encouraging a common sense approach to resolving incidents. Wiltshire Police is following other forces which have run similar successful schemes.

These are clearly not fully qualified yet!

Which is what I failed to take note of when I was set up last year Andy (see post above.) :y

Now that enough time has passed, and my embarrassment has somewhat subsided, I can own up. I did it! :'( :'( :'( :-[ :-[ :-[
Fortunately it was on a nice warm day during the summer.

My only excuse is that I was definitely set up.
Foolishly filling up at a large supermarket, which has all the pumps close together, I lifted the nozzle out of the DIESEL holder, and pumped away, thinking about the work I was about to undertake. Unfortunately, the tank only had a couple of gallons in it, so I put about 50 ltrs of petrol in. If all the nozzles had been correctly positioned in their holders, it would not have been possible to operate the nozzle I had in my tank.

After I had sorted my problem a mile or so later - siphoning the  tank into a collection of plastic cans, topping up with a couple of gallons of diesel, removing the filter and refilling with diesel, - I went back to T****'s to see how I could have made what, as Kevin says, is a stupid mistake. What had been done was certainly deliberate, the diesel and petrol nozzles had clearly been swapped in their adjacent holders, and the diesel nozzle just balanced such that the petrol holder it was 'in' would still pump. Stupid design, which allowed a stupid mistake.

Yes I know, I should have noticed the green decal on the nozzle, but as said I was miles away as I pumped, and quite happy in the knowledge that it came from the correct holder.

You have been warned, there are some a@?&hol;s around, so check not only the pump, but the nozzle in it.

On the plus side, it happened to me, and I am quite capable of sorting it out, and not some hapless individual driving an expensive car, which would have cost a fortune to fix. And SWMBO's Jazz had lots of extra - if slightly oily - petrol to use.

I was concerned that I may have damaged the injector pump bearings, but after 3000 miles, all seems well. :y

Can anyone explain to me this, apparently, universal desire to publish every detail about oneself for the rest of to world to view, eg Facebook, twitter, Myspace etc? I guess it's an age thing, but I am almost paranoid in not disseminating info about myself, and get antsy when people forward e-mails leaving all the addresses on.

This behaviour has to be one of the most puzzling things about the ever widening internet phenomenon. :-/ :-/ :-/ :-? :y

I believe it is all part of human nature to feel that you 'belong'.  I certainly do not enjoy either the Facebook or Twitter experience, but I am no youngster!! :'( :'(  The young though do want to network, gain friends, and feel they are part of this world, a world that many a time wants to isolate individuals, ironically, by the spread of technology that keeps many in bedrooms, front rooms, or Uni accommodation!

We as humans, well at least females, want to be in social groups talking about mutual interests, like boys, clothes, and each other.  Of course, as you rightly mention, the danger is that too much info is released in their keenness to 'spread' themselves favourably, coupled with immaturity of youth. ;) ;)

I have a, very, high powered offspring in the City, no spring chicken, who uses FB and T!!! :-? :-? :-? :y

Oh dear, poor soul S !! :P :P

It is probably one way they maintain their 'young image' in the City that is obsessed by youth=success! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

We can cope, we get lots of generous outings and breaks, so all my investment is paying off. ::) ::) ::)

I used to have a similar boiler and, IIRC, the button is just a circuit breaker - like device that pops out when  an error condition is detected.

Seems clear to me that the "gas safe" guy is nothing of the sort and has broken it?

You can see the device in this picture, top right, if I'm correct?

http://www.clickonbathrooms.co.uk/acatalog/VAILLANT_100555_VC_GB_242EH_FLAME_SUPERVISION_DEVICE.html

Or is it on this board?

http://www.clickonbathrooms.co.uk/acatalog/VAILANT_130330_VC_GB_242EH_PRINTED_CIRCUIT_BOARD_PCB_.html

Either way, spares appear to be available, so he should be supplying one, IMHO.

I'm guessing it only sees occasional use so the payback time from an early replacement for a more efficient boiler would be so long you might as well fix this one?

Kevin

Hi Kevin, yes you are correct, the first one quoted, 100555, is the replacement for the older version  (100522) on ours. I can get one for about £50, so will try that before replacing the boiler. :y :y :y

If you can post pics here you can stick `em in a PM

Comes under 'too difficult' for me, even though I've read the instructions several times. Makes me wonder how I ever understood flying manuals, Oh! now I remember, they were written in English. ;D ;D ;D
