Title: Meet details.
Post by: VX1 on 14 September 2007, 20:14:54
Right I have some details for this meet on the 26,27 of October.

Travelodge Tot Hill, A34. I thought this would be more central for most memebers
I would like to know how many people are interested in coming to this meet to make it successful. Please reply with your name and numbers.
EDIT: Sorry most important bit £26 a night per room (family room)

I know I can't make it due to work ... but are folks confusing this venue with the M4/A34 Chieveley junction services (J13) ??

They are about 9 miles away !! This motel is at Tot Hill, slightly south of Newbury, the services are north !!

Just my 2.7 p's worth .. (inc VAT)
Title: Re: Meet details Tot Hill Travelodge

Did originally state A34/M4 but then I checked for the cheap prices the £26 pn is for the Tot hill travelodge so thought it would be the better of the two due to cheapness.

I have now decided that due to not being able to find a travelodge within easy reach for members to get to with a resturant/bar on the premises this meet is now OFF.
Title: Re: Meet details.
Post by: TheBoy on 16 September 2007, 21:36:07
Some of the other chains, such as Premier Inns tend to have Travelodge type accomodation, but attached to a pub/resturant....
Title: Re: Meet details.
Post by: hotel21 on 16 September 2007, 22:09:07
Anyone remember what type of place we used when we went to Drax?   Premier Inn, Travel Lodge, whatever??   That had a bar/restraunt attached and was well used....   ;)

Unfortunately this meet is far too far south for me to justify attending to my other half (hence not replying or adding to the thread previously  :( ) but it may be viable to find an alternate venue?

Just a thought.....   :y

Goole was a Premier Inn

Just checked at a premier inn near newbury, 2 Adults 2 Children 1 room £120 Breakfast extra. Too much for two nights especially when travelodge can do the same for £52 thats more reasonable.

How about this one  :y

https://www.travelodge.co.uk/make_a_booking/availability.php?hotel_id=335&doa_dd=26&doa_mm=10-2007&stay_len=1&no_of_rooms=1&corp_id=&rate_plan=&agent_type=&agent_code=&x=37&y=8

Is in Swindon central.....same price £26  :y

So eating out/drinking is really close....if you wanna go outa the hotel.

Behind the hotel is an ex b and q car park......still used by Halfauds....but carpark is now nearly always 3/4 quarters empty.....ideal for repairs/etc  :y

Just an idea tho  :y

Should add the carpark is free.....for a 2hour stay i think.....and not even sure its patrolled anymore since B&Q moved out.....but if there is an interest.....i can phone Halfords and ask them permission for 'tinkering' in the carpark......with the promise of some sales from us.....im sure buying the odd bulb on my trade card will keep them happy  ;D :y

This is just like a good Jockular Omega's thread.....  Pages and pages of lots and lots, but nothing really sorted yet.    ;D   ;D   ;D

Anybody care to summarise whats actually happening with this meet to save me (and countless others  ;) ) trawling the vast numbers of previous posts to see where and when this might actually be thinking of almost happening?   ;D

Reason I ask is that a trip to London with an aged relative is in the offing at the end of this month, thus may be available for a southern meet......   :D

Let us know when you're down this way, Bruce, and we'll get together in one form or another.

Was going to suggest a run to the Goodwood Breakfast Club sometime but they only meet in the summer and next sunday is the last one.

Still, cars from "gone in 60 seconds". Might be worth a look  :y

Cracking idea - mrs and I had been intending to go to one of those this year (once I'd explained that I wasn't enterring us in a track race..).

We would be up for it I'm sure.

Hi everyone,
Firstly I would like to appologise that due to a job change I am unable to continue with the organisation of this meet, however if another member wish's to take over the organisation they are welcome. This has come about as I will be working over that weekend  :( (due to new job) and unable to make it and participate. Once again I do appologise for this.

This however has no reflect on future meets that I may organise.
