Yes the absurd Mr Trump is going to impose tariffs on raw materials ie steel and the equally (if not more so) absurd EU will impose tariffs on consumer goods in retaliation. 

So whose tariffs will hit ordinary people in the pocket hardest?

Tbh Ron, Ive seen them on U.S. roads and they make sense there. Amble along for hours on end in a relaxed fashion, taking in the scenery etc without a care in the world.
In this country however, I think they are ridden by people who always wanted a big vroom vroom motorbike and buy a Harley because they are noisy (and so must be fast) and they are probably the only one they have ever heard of.

The bigger concern will be German cars being hit with tariffs going to the US.

VW and Audi are relatively niche products and will remain so.

VW and Audi are only niche products in America. That is not the case in Europe and China where they are far more important than BMW(which still only makes cars) or Mercedes.


Then there are the Japanese who are in things for the long-term, and have no qualms about sacrificing short-term profits to survive. As Toyota recently stated, they're quite prepared to close UK facilities and expand their European ones if market conditions(which are our relationship or otherwise with the EU) demand it.
