General Discussion Area / Help needed
« on: 25 December 2007, 22:08:43 »
I'm sorry to have to ask this, and if the Mods remove it I will understand, but some help is needed.

If you read the articles at this link, you will understand the problem ...

http://www.arrse.co.uk/cpgn2/Forums/viewtopic/t=85216/postdays=0/postorder=asc/start=0.html

Please, if you find this as deplorable as I do, go to this site, click the "contact me" link top right, and register your feelings. If enough folks do it the hope is he might take on the PM over the issue.

General Discussion Area / "trim combination"
« on: 20 December 2007, 12:03:01 »
How do I find out the official description of the interior trim colour/style of my miggy  ?

Heated front seat has shorted and burned a hole in the seat squab so I need the correct info to try and source replacements :(

EPC lists them using "trim combination" numbers .. ??

Any info gratefully accepted .....  :'( :'(

General Discussion Area / RAF Hercules XV179
« on: 10 December 2007, 14:10:28 »
I hope the Mods do not object to me posting this, if it is removed I will accept your decision

You may have read in the press that the families of those killed in XV179 (shot down in Afghanistan) will not be legally represented at the inquests later this year.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/wiltshire/7134919.stm

There are errors in this report as the Australian Government is NOT funding anything, The navigator's family are paying for this themselves.

This is another outrageous position taken by an outrageous government. If you agree with that statement then say so, by contacting your MP via this site:

http://www.theyworkforyou.com

It will even follow up your post to ensure that you get a reply! Otherwise they can trot out the ever familiar response that they have had very little in the way of protest over the issue. That must not happen!

Thank you for reading this.

General Discussion Area / New use for an Omega
« on: 21 October 2007, 21:48:03 »
Sorry no piccies .. but the miggy was put to a different use today  :)

SWMBO had a small prang in her mk1 clit .. no damage to the other vehicle..  that pushed the front in about 2 1/2 inches, most of the damage was to the 2 brackets to which the bonnet is attached ( on these the bonnet opens from the windscreen) so the whole bonnet was pushed back into the wiper mounts.

Bonnet off (at which point the headlights disintegrated - another story) eventually, remains of headlights out, battery removed, towrope with caribina attached to a riser bracket, bricks in front of each wheel, handbrake well on, and in gear, miggy took the strain, gently, then a quick blip of power, clit moves a tad ... repeat alternate sides until risers straight again !!

Fit replacement bonnet and headlights from scrappy, book in to a mate for a flash spray and headlight alignment  (cash job - no questions) .. and the job will be done !!  :)

who says miggys aren't versatile !!  :)

Virgin Radio have been holding a competition called Who's Calling Christian? where listeners get celebrities to call the DJ on the breakfast show for a chance to win £10,000 for the celeb's fave charity.

England Rugby player Josh Lewsey called Christian and his nominated charity is the Army Benelovent Fund.

Being so close to the Rugby World Cup Final, he's obviously a popular choice and has made it through to the final 5 celebs.

Now, we need everyone's vote for him to win 10k towards the ABF, something I'm sure we as a community would all appreciate the value of.

Go to Virgin Radio website and click on the link for WHO'S CALLING CHRISTIAN and click on Josh Lewsey to vote.

Voting is open all weekend and the winner will be announced on Monday's breakfast show. Get voting!!

Thanks,

Clicky Clicky... :)

General Discussion Area / Cheesed off !!
« on: 20 September 2007, 21:56:03 »
I is ***** off ....   >:(

In order to start doing my own work I checked the toolbox, which hasn't seen serious workloads for over 15 years, since the days of the MGB .. loads of imperial stuff, but not much metric and no torx at all, plus the torque wrench is high range (20Nm upwards) only and the maintenance guides often refer to much lower settings ....

So I go on-line and order, from various places, the stuff I need and the parts ... everything arrives fine EXCEPT the low range torque wrench, which arrives in bits, literally, so it gets sent back for replacement.

Tonight, 8 days after it was returned, I get an e-mail saying they can't replace it for 3 weeks, as there has ben a "run" on these since they were praised in some Mountain Bikers magazine .. I've told them to stuff it and refund my payment.

Now searching for another source, I've e-mailed a couple and await tomorrows responses, but does anyone have any suggestions on a suitable low range torque wrench ?? The one I'm trying to obtain ia a Sealey STW1012 2-24 Nm 3/8 drive, seems to be in the region of £30 + £5 postage
