Did my last link work? If yes, it's exactly what Addys left the factory with :y

yes DG , your pic worked  :y
I was trying to show that there is another adapter that holds a H1 in place ,maybe another brand /make on non HID units  :y
maybe the link i posted can take either HID or H1 ,depending on what adapter is fitted . so, maybe Addy's has been replaced but missing part of the adapter  :-\

pic of the problem headlamp would probably help   ;D

We just need to know what his car has got in it now. Somebody may well have fitted a wrong headlamp ( such as a hid d2s) and bodged it to hold a h1 bulb .who knows.
From the front the projector type halogen and the hid look the same but as you say totally different at the back ,re the ballast, bulb mounting and cover screws.
We need a pic of what he's got !
Could just be missing its clip for the h1 or wrong lamp ?

Sorry for not replying been busy.  I will take a pic for you all, but the photo I first put up with the red circle on it, is how mine looks. The link from Davethebuilder has the same two wires as mine for the H1, but that metal piece with the light bulb retention spring on  isn't there.

Thanks for all the help, it is appreciated

Both dipped and main are H1 on this unit... main has bulb fitted, dipped doesn't. Also, being non HID, it's a prefacelift light so has no business being anywhere near a facelift car ;)

As promised pics of my headlight.

This is how the H1 is fitted, the brown wire was just looped around the metal. I have soldered it for a better connection.

How the unit looks with the ring off.

This is how the person made the bulb fit.

The car is a 2002 2.6 CD Model. Headlight height adjustment is done on the headlight switch.

Thanks

Definitely a pattern unit...

You might get lucky and find the retaining spring in the bowels of the unit :-\

Only permanent fix is to replace it.

Thanks Doctor Gollum, the passenger side on mine looks like this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-B-DRIVERS-HEADLIGHT-NO-BROKEN-FIXINGS-OR-BRACKETS/163484087605, not the one in your link.

Thanks

I'm confused... The one you have just linked to is a genuine driver's side, and near as I can tell is the same as the one in my garage which I linked to yesterday... ???

Is this the actual light on your actual car. . If it is then it
Looks like an early pre facelift light has been fitted rather than the correct type. ( hence the gap/ rounded off corner)
Or am I mistaken ?
