Omega General Help / 2.6 lower sump gasket dilemma
« on: 21 July 2020, 14:11:28 »
Hi all,
To cut a long story short, i have had intermittent low oil pressure and decided to remove the sump and clean the oil delivery tube. I went to local dealers to get oil, filter, "o" ring for delivery tube and sump gasket.  I was told that the lower sump uses a sealant as a gasket and it is expensive and advised me to get "Elring Dirko S HT" as it is the same stuff but cheaper.
On un-bolting the sump i discoverd that there is a rubber coated gasket and no sign of any sealant.  When i bought the car it came with full service history and all other work had been done at main dealers. I checked through everything and there was nothing about having the sump gasket replaced. This has lead to be believing the gasket was fitted from new.

My dilemma is do i use the sealant or the gasket?

Thanks

Omega General Help / Lock/latch parts
« on: 11 June 2020, 20:06:09 »
Hi all,
hope you are all well.

The other day i replaced the two micro switches in the driver’s side central locking motor. My son was giving me a hand and has damaged the securing clip which attaches the internal door opener to the lock. "Brown plastic clip"  I have spoken to Vauxhall dealer but they did not seem to understand what I require.  I know these parts were available for other vehicles but not sure about the Omega. does anyone know if they are sold separately or come with a new lock?

I can post a picture of the part if it helps

Thanks

Julian

Hi all, I have a 2002 elite of which a bit and run driver obliterated the drivers side mirror. All that is left is the metal frame and motor housing. I have one from my scrapped CD model and was wondering if I swapped the loom inside the mirror with the 9-pin loom from the elite one, would the memory work. Has anyone tried this.

Omega General Help / Self leveling rear shocks
« on: 24 March 2019, 16:20:42 »
I have been informed by main dealers that the self leveling shocks have been discontinued by Vauxhall. After quite a search on Internet I have found they are available in USA and Norway but at a high price, £380 is the cheapest from Norway. I am contemplating replacing them with standard ones. Bilstein said they can supply me with a pair of B4 shocks at a discount £93 delivered. Those of you that have already done this, have you had any problems, can you disable the compressor by removing a relay or fuse. Thanks

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Range of Keyfob
« on: 07 April 2016, 10:59:43 »
Hi all,

Is there a way of extending the range of the remote keyfob for the central locking. I have had a couple of face lift omegas and have found that the range is not great even with new batteries.

Omega General Help / Elite rear shocks
« on: 17 December 2015, 14:32:01 »
Hi all,  i have a 2.6 elite with self leveling shocks on the rear.  I have tried to get replacements but i have been told it will have to be the main dealer.  Does anyone know of an alternative stockist?  Thanks

Dear all,

Some time ago I had this problem with My car radio reception.  I sourced another arial amp and got ready to remove the rear shelf to fit it.  Before going ahead, I re-read the repies I got and decided to check all of the elements in the heated rear window.  I found the bottom three were broken.  I fixed them today using conductive paint and the interferance has stopped.

I recomend that any one who has this problem tries this first as it is a lot easier than replacing the areal amp.

Omega General Help / 2.6 will not start
« on: 29 August 2014, 17:55:49 »
My 2.6 would not fire up Wednesday morning; it just spun over with no attempt to fire or miss fire "Fast turn over".  I have tried what was suggested in an earlier post to see if it had got flooded, with no luck. A friend has plugged his laptop into my car but no errors were found on either the engine system or the immobilizer, however the fuel pump relay showed that it was inactive when the engine was turning over. Fuse 18 was checked and I swapped the fuel pump relay with a known working relay.  The fuel pump has been tested and is working ok.  Is it possible that it is the Crank sensor? As I have read that the fuel pump relay and other equipment wait for a signal from it to start working.

Thanks for reading this

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Alarm anti-movement button
« on: 03 August 2013, 11:44:08 »
Hi,

A friend has a W reg 2.0 GLS which does not have the dash button for turning off the alarm motion sensor.  Would fitting a button work straight away or does it need tech II to enable it? Thanks

Omega General Help / camshaft sensor
« on: 11 March 2012, 22:23:11 »
Hi all,
I have just done a cylinder head gasket on my 2.2  When it came to start the engine, it would not fire up. The only fault that registered was for the cam-sensor.
Do camshaft sensors just check for rotation of the camshafts or do they check that the timing is ok?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Anti theft system fault
« on: 04 August 2011, 12:36:08 »
I noticed recently that when i lock the car, the led indicator flashes straight away indicating a problem.  I connected "My Naff Code Reader" and nofaults found in immobaliser system however, under anti theft system i found fault code 121 and no explanation.  As soon as it is cleared it returns.  All door, boot, bonnet switches are working as they should.
Does anyone know what the fault code 121 is for the antitheft system is please.

Thanks
