Title: 2.2 Diesel Heater Bypass Valve Change.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR ENGINE HAS COOLED ENOUGH SO HAS NOT TO SCALD YOU

This quite an easy job to do that even a novice can do & takes around half an hour.
Tools you will need are a 1/4 drive ratchet, 7mm socket (or spanner), two sets of locking grips & water pump pliers (or similar).

Use the 7mm socket & ratchet to undo the Jubilee Clips of the pipe that connects the air filter box with the Mass Air Flow Sensor & remove the pipe for easy access as pictured below.

Remove the air cleaner box (this is fiddly with coolant pipes around it). This then gives you plenty of room to access the HBV as pictured below.

This is the offending little bugger pictured from underneath & above.

Clamp the inlet & outlet 1/2" coolant pipes with the long nose locking grips as pictured below (this stops you from losing more coolant ).

Then remove the small vacuum pipe on top of the HBV, grip the pipe clips with the water pump pliers on their little tags & slide them down the pipes away from the HBV. You may want to release the HBV from its small metal retaining mount for easier access.

When you've removed the HBV, check to make sure you have like for like.

Replacement is the reverse of removal.

Top up your coolant start your engine & check for leaks.
That's it you're all done.
