Anyone know the best place to buy these now? The price seems to have shot up in the last 12 months.

General Car Chat / Corsa C - Steering Lock wont engage
« on: 11 January 2018, 19:33:41 »
Strange one, 2001 Corsa C 1.2 SXi with EPS, Ignition Lock works but steering lock doesn't which is an MOT fail. Barrel seems all ok, steering lock mechanism free to move but had to press it down to get the barrel back in, if you take the barrel out again you have to do the same procedure to get it back in.

Anyone know the fix?

General Car Chat / MOT pass
« on: 01 December 2017, 13:34:15 »
My longest owned Omega passed today, no advisories!

The Galaxy is now in and needs a replacement rear caliper and won't be far off two new rear shocks... Can't complain I do very little maintenance on it!

Question for Keith really - Will ABS be attending this next year? I quite fancy taking one of mine along (maybe two  ::) ) and I'm sure a few OOFers will attend as well.  :y

Omega General Help / 18" Spare
« on: 24 September 2017, 23:40:33 »
Having a car running on 18" Sportstars (required to be able to fit the larger front brakes underneath) I now need to source a spare. Wouldn't be a problem under normal circumstances but with the larger brakes an 18" wheel is the minimum requirement, even then, I believe certain 18" wheels are too tight on the caliper.

I believe I need something with these specifics:-

PCD: 110
ET: 30 (Or use a spacer plate)
Size: 18"
Width: ideally 8J

I notice Vauxhall Moka wheels are 18" but think the are 7J, really need something cheap that I could slap on until I got to a tyre place...

Anyone have any ideas, I would buy another Sportstar if I could find one but they all appear to be in sets of four.

Omega Gallery / Modified armrest cupholder - trial attempt
« on: 19 September 2017, 19:36:05 »
It's only a trial so please excuse the poor quality, just wanted to see if the concept works.

The negatives are that the handbrake can't be engaged while you have a drink in the cup holder and the armrest storage space is reduced.

Let me know what you think  :)

Omega General Help / Irmscher Sportstars - wheel bolt caps
« on: 18 September 2017, 19:11:37 »
As the wheel's have a thicker construction to the standard facelift Elite wheels, the existing plastic caps that cover the wheel bolts aren't usable (you'd never be able to get them off as they would be to recessed into the wheel), does anyone know what the correct dimensions are that I need to obtain and where from?

Can see a few options on eBay but nothing on the Irmscher site.  :(

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Wanted - Facelift parts
« on: 10 September 2017, 18:52:06 »
Looking for the tinted versions of the rear lenses - I have two new genuine GM tinted outer lenses but can't get hold of the inner (bootlid) ones from anywhere (tried various countries eBay sites)

Also looking for Irmscher steering wheels - Gloss wood (as per Elite trim) and Silver (as per MV6 trim), both with headunit controls or fixing point to fit them.

Does anyone have a spare one of these they could sell me?

Not sure if they are still available from the original supplier?

Thanks

General Car Chat / Vented rear brakes - Pins and Clips
« on: 06 May 2017, 17:57:45 »
Struggling to get these!

The suggested Mintex kit MBA 1271 kit in the guide, despite saying it is for vented on the Mintex website, is actually for the solid disc setup  :'(

I shall keep trying to find the correct ones!

PS. If anyone wants a new set of either Mintex or GM pins or clips for non vented rear setups then drop me a PM!

General Car Chat / Thoughts on Fiesta 1.25
« on: 07 March 2017, 18:34:40 »
My Dad is looking for something to replace his 2007 Corsa 1.3CDTi (A complete pile of **** if ever there was one with EPS faults, Turbo actuator faults, wiper motor faults, springs breaking regularly and not overly fuel efficient), we've had a look round and for around £4.5K puts him into the newer shape Fiesta with a 1.25 engine.

Not read anything bad about these cars and engines and would suit dad as the larger 1.4 engine model hikes up the insurance group, road tax and fuel consumption. We're talking about someone who just uses his car to go to the local shops and has the occasional trip out in a relatively small radius, this negates any benefit from having a diesel vehicle. He doesn't want to spend over £4.5K ideally as it's limited use negates the need for any fancy extra's, his only real requirements are a five door model (easier when picking up children or going for a meal with a couple of friends), comfortable driving position without being to low to get in and out of and something cheap to service without expensive items like turbo's etc.

So does anyone have any input positive or negative about this car  (Specifically the 2009 model onwards) and engine combination or any other cars he could consider.

The only other point is he may not be able or want to drive in a few years time so I was also looking for something basic and with a small engine that maybe my sons could buy off him as a first car.
