MID what can you do?
« on: 01 May 2015, 21:30:08 »

 ::)
I spent several hours searching the forum, but I did not find answers, and here I am.
Are holding an Opel Omega Estate 2.5 TD 1996. Unfortunately my MID is losing more and more pixels and has become difficult to read the information, and I want to try to improve the situation. In this case you can recommend what to do.
Thanks

Buy a newer model mid. The one with four lightbulbs and a single grey connector. Much more reliable. You will need the connector for it as well. And you'll have to rewire the connections in the car. And finally a tech 2 session but you will end up with a mid that actually works:)

I try to look for the type used with MID CONNECTOR gray, even if it seems difficult to make the setting with the tech2 for me !!

Just remember early omegas (94&95) have different fuel gage ranges. Since you got a 96 you should be ok. Way to check is to look at the speedometer. Old type is divided in to 5 km/h intervalls. New type is 10 km/h intervalls. Same with rev counter old type got a line each 250 rpm, new each 500 rpm. So you SHOULD have the new type and its just a matter of rewiring. If like me (95 omega) you also need to change the fuel sender unit and the speedometer. (At least the backplate) this is to Get the range measurement corect.

If I had to find a replacement I wanted to know some more information in order to identify the parts it does for me.
I have a diesel version can use a MID that comes from a donor vehicle that is gasoline?
The language of the information of MID can change it if I find a MID in another country?

Asking the same question twice in two different sections won't help you get cohesive answers ;)

Actually it was...

If you had seen his duplicate question also asked yesterday, to which I had constructfully replied...

It avoids confusion if each item is only posted once in the appropriate section rather than all over the place ;)
