You are all wrong; he has been hiding in my over-full, impenetrable garage for several years.....

If it has had daylight (ultraviolet light) on it for any significant length of time - bin it!

The dent doesn't look THAT bad, but what is the discolouration - corrosion?
Could the damage have caused plating separation, allowing degradation to take place, or am I talking through my a**e?!!

Zirk, that is spot-on! Once played "wet", as in the Lenco brush and reservoir system of those days, you will always have to play them wet. True, the cleaning fluid contains isopropyl alcohol, which is a good and safe solvent (especially important for stylus adhesive), but it cannot suck out the loosened debris like a deep cleanser.
I very much doubt that they are still in business, but Monks Audio used to offer such a service - if they still are, you won't need the capital outlay of a machine yourself.....

Don, we are on the same page!
Why, oh why do people come here because they like what they see of our country and its values, and immediately seek to change it and undermine or festroy those values?
Back then, for us small children, every adult was a figure of respect and authority and would administer a corrective "clip round the ear" if he caught you misbehaving. Try that nowadays and you would find yourself in court!

Thank you for that great trip back down Memory Lane, Olympia; sad to say, I AM old enough to have been on Waterloo Station at around that time!
What contrasts most with today, looking at that film, is the fact that virtually every single person was English, or at least spoke the language, and understood the system, from those using the station to all of the staff.
Particularly in queues nowadays, that is far from the truth and so much time is spent by staff who themselves have limited grasp of English, trying to explain to those who may have one or two words of English and no idea of the way we do things in this country! When the blind lead the blind......

Exactly, BG! What next, a team of kitchen inspectors checking our homes for dirty forks?

I was born in East London (during WW2), in the days when the streets were black and white - and the people weren't!

Sorry to repeat myself, OP, but if you are under 100 miles from Huntingdon, it will be cost-effective to go to see Serek. Be prepared to wait a while (or go shopping) as he likes the engine to cool down first, but it will be a perfect job.
NO, we are not related; he did mine and I was delighted, so telling you about it is what this forum is for, yes?

Serek.
No argument - brilliany, painstaking work and a good price. He will also do those essential breathers whilst he is at it.
PM him.

OP, are you SURE you don't want a dead MIL? No matter how c r a p p y she thinks your Omega is, it's better than walking and she is getting a free lift; tell her to STFU!
More seriously, have you considered using some of that flue liner that is sort-of flexible? It will be to large in diameter for your job, which is all to the good, since you can cut it longitudinally and overlap the cut sides to suit, then clamp tightly with jubilees?
