Thanks for the information. Mine is 2.5td CDX with leather, which I guess was an extra. It was a Vauxhall management car when I bought it at 5000 miles.

A YES vote, but basically until its not cost effective. But as I'm 6'4" with extra long legs, I'm pushed to find a replacement in my price range. Insignia seats too hard, Mondeo Estate..... a possibility, a Lexus Estate would fit the bill. 5 series Beemers too small, etc.
But prefer to keep this another 11 years.

I bought an eprom for my Omega 2.5td auto. If anyone is interested in purchasing one I can recommend this mapping.
I got it on Ebay for 21GBP plus two quid for a chip socket, it was an auction so I was luck in more ways than one.
I had lots of communication with the young guy and he's quick reliable etc etc.
The auto box(ar25) is already complaining with the extra power but I swear that the engine smokes less than before. Unless i"m going that much faster that I dont see it!
I can pass any details on if anyone is interested, including how to swap the chip etc.
Will have fuel figures soon.

Reminds me of a story I heard from someone who went to ATS for a new tyre. Got it done and then told that the car needed new discs and pads on the fronts (was a front tyre that needed replacing) due to excesive wear on them.
He answer was 'I do not think so'
Reply 'Yes they are near the minimum'
'Can not be as they were replaced at the dealers 1 month ago and its only done 200miles since then'
He only paid for a tyre.
A tip I use when getting a car serviced is to mark the parts to be changed with an ultraviolet pen in a hidden type place. Then when rung to say its ready to collect go to the reception, sit and read the reciept with all the work carried out and then ask to see the car before paying.
Then, in full view of the reception, look at all the parts changed with the relevant torch. If the maqrks are gone then you know they have done the job, if they are still there then you know somethings screwy. I always say that I want to see all the replaced parts before paying the bill. Means I can check to see if the mark is on them as well.
Have got a free service this way as I made a complaint as they had not replaced 3 of the parts on a service but asked me to pay for it. Having the office full of potental new buyers/service customers worked very well.
Citroen GS in the late 70's ., put new front pads on,put the box in the boot, MOT the next day, FAIL on front pads worn!!! Much embarrassment, and free MOT

Glass firms will happily replace a serviceable screen, as they get paid whatever. But just chip it a bit if you are concerned.

MOT today = PASS
To avoid this embarrassment again Mick, I removed the header tank from its mounting, while still connected, to improve access to the filter water drain, then ran a drain pipe through the wheel arch to a container. Works a treat. Also with the tank to one side, it is much easier to remove the filter, if necessary removing the whole unit from its mounting. Remember to anneal - or preferably replace - the copper washers, 14p each from stealers.

Yeah I remove the whole unit, much easier
It did get a bit messy trying to remove the filter only, not much room in there.
