General Car Chat / Re: Spotted
« on: 17 June 2021, 08:44:44 »
Seen a green 02 omega parked in Hillington near Glasgow a couple of weeks, ago. I'd just dropped mine off (which is also green) to get alignment done, on way back I thought "Bleep there's my car" thinking someone had just nicked it from outside the garage where I left it!

There was a couple about Paisley I used to see now and again when in town at work, but don't work in town anymore, so aint seen them, a blue 2.2, a silver 2.6 (think the guy was on here).
I lived in Paisley, next to St Mirren FC. I had a silver 2.6 saloon and the wife had a PFL Green Estate, usually travelling around Linwood and Paisley area.  Moved down Country, between Durham and Darlington. Still got them both.

I think I have the size of the bolt, but not sure of the thread pitch if fine or course.

They are quite helpfull in parts. Most vauxhall places I have rung, the phone goes silent when mentioning Omega.  I am looking for the small bolt that holds Camshaft sensor, on Mags 2ltr, I have some in the shed ;D. Last time I changed Camsensor, I dropped the bolt never to find it again.

Rang my local Vauxhall Dealer in Darlington today, to order some bolts. As we were chatting, he said that they had 2 centre boxes and back box for a 2.5, 3.0 Estate in stock.  I said I would let everyone know, incase someone is looking for one.

The company is Drive Vauxhall Darlington. 01325 637265. The person to ask for is Frank in Parts Department.

Hope this is of use to someone.

Thanks Nick W for the quick reply.  I thought of silicon vac pipe, as cannot seem to find proper pipe. Will do as you say and see if can get a pipe that will work using outlet measurement on camcover.

I have done a search but cannot find the answer.  The thin vac pipe that goes from the cam cover, to the throttle body on the wifes 1995 2.0ltr 16v has gone all soft inside. I am trying to find the Inside diameter, so I can buy some reinforced silicon vacuum pipe to replace it.

Would anyone have an idea of what size inside diameter it should be please, also is it worth doing the other vac pipe next to it, on the cam cover with a silicon vac pipe?

Thank you in advance for any help.

I thought exactly the same about the new Anne Boleyn series. It has gone crazy on TV, don't watch it much now. Have a few programs that I like to watch, but not even bothered if I miss them.  I was also brought up in a family, that is a mixture of different cultures, Scots, Irish, Welsh, French and even South African. So never knew racism existed, even to this day I still look at a person, for how they behave not their colour or beliefs.

But the minority cultures, are turning even non racist people against them. The patience of the country is wearing thin, it will soon boil over and nothing will stop it.

Check wiring to display. I think the ribbon cable causes problemsThe radio I would remove, open it and remove the cd cartridge. But most people remove the original radio, for a new double din style. I think there are kits available that allow you to still use the steering wheel, controls?

Omega General Help / Re: 2.2 petrol exhaust manifold

Is the 2.2 used in other Vauxhalls, like the 2.0 was? Try other models for the exhaust gasket?

Omega General Help / Re: Handbrake Warning Light
« on: 16 April 2021, 11:01:55 »
HWL comes on, when brake fluid is low or handbrake applied. Does the light stay on if handbrake released? Have you checked brake fluid level in engine bay?

From owners manual:-

Control indicator lights up when ignition is switched on if hand brake is applied and/or the fluid level for brake/clutch hydraulics is
too low.

Omega General Help / Re: Performance air filter

Agreed Lizzie Zoom. The air intake system for the engine, from stock works great. If it isn't would be checking all pipework to the Rams front and back.

Omega General Help / Re: Performance air filter

Just my thoughts. But you are dragging warm air in, from around the engine, which is a massive heat source. Warm air is not what you want. Cold air is better for performance. Probably the ECU is backing everything off, because it sees lots of warm air.  That is why intercoolers are used, cools air down. More cold air, more bang in engine = more power.

So you have made the engine power etc. worse by doing the conversion.

Someone will be along soon, to hopefully explain more.

Thanks Enceladus, for the quick reply.

Will try and get some more data today, if weather and laptop allow. The laptop was not playing yesterday, kept shutting down.  The O2 sensor is new a Genuine NGK. The car was going open/closed with all the O2 sensors, fitted after the Headgasket went. The one on now, was bought recently and was put safe, in a place with no damp or where is could be damaged. It was fitted to the new Catalyst.

The voltage is fluctuating on it, checked wiring and connector nothing looks bad. Contacts in connector are nice and clean, so does it mean O2 is working and engine temp is stopping it going closed loop?

At what temperature should the O2 go closed loop?

Thanks again
