V6 Stalling
« on: 22 March 2015, 18:07:27 »

As per title no idle on 2.5 v6 after a dis pack change, have had the plenum off twice now and checked for air leaks and split vac pipes, found no splits or air leaks.
I have also removed the intake manifold and cleaned everything to within an inch of life and checked all seals and refitted all very carefully.
Car runs and idles lovely untill warm at which point it then hunts and eventually dies.
Car starts first time every time but refuses to idle.
VERY CONFUSED. :-\

Temp sensors both plugged in and secure, idle control valve a bit loose in the rubber plug but appears not to be leaking. swapped icv for a substitute same symptoms.

Will it run with minimal throttle? (To replace the idle function)

Throttle position sensor plugged in?

When mine did this, it was the MAF. Checking is easy, disconnect the MAF and see if the problem improves. It will put the MIL on, but that resets as soon as everything is reconnected.

Chris what is the fast idle choke? havent heard that term before. ::)

When cold it ticks over a bit faster. Should settle to 550 rpm once warm. But if the ecu still thinks the engine is cold, due to missing sensor info, it might still run rich and bog down.
That was my thinking anyway. Not saying my thinking is correct mind.

My 3l did this after a cam gasket change. It'd start and run for a few minutes or if revs were kept up it'd keep running but try to let it idle and it'd die. Then you coul start it straight back up again and same would happen.Turned out that when the guy had done the gasket change he'd not quite pushed the connector home for the crank sensor at back of head.Just saying like!

I did check all the plugs at the back when the intake manifold was off, found nothing disconnected plus i would have thought that if the cs was unplugged it would not start.?
