Winter tyres for MOT
« on: 23 June 2018, 17:46:43 »

Preparing my ex-police 3.2 for MOT I notice all the tyres are worn in the inside edges. I have a complete set of new winter tyres available, they came with a used car I bought. I am tempted to fit them to avoid getting a fail or advisories for worn tyres. Is this wise?

You might get an advisory, but when I submitted mine on winters in late April it wasn't even mentioned.

Legally size, load rating, tread depth and condition are more important than type or brand :y

I've had 3 different cars pass mot's with 2 normal tyres and 2 winters fitted (same axles) so can't see a problem unless the new regs. say otherwise.

I had a set of Pirelli winters on the back axle of my Omega for about 2 years and they went through the MOT about the end of May/early June without comment.  :y

Many thanks for good advice. I fitted 4 good winter tyres, and today my ex-police 3.2 passed its MOT, without comment or advisory on the tyres.
