I have owned Vauxhalls for longer than I have held a full licence.

My first Vauxhall was a 2 door Viva HC. I stuck L plates on it and used to take friends to the pub (if they had a full car licence) to gain experience.

I found a car you may be interested in

There's an ex Berkshire plod "road wars" saloon for sale in Newton Abbot asking £1,250 I assumed it was a manual
listed as a 2009  ::) but Date registered 21 March 2003
"Omega ex road wars police car from berkshire high miles fully loaded  with history  alloys electric  windows still  has the police lights  in not for road use though fully wax oiled  new shocks springs bat tyres brakes quick car may px swap"

MOT check says 213k @ MOT in Jan this year (KU03WVC)

same reg as the one you sold  ??? same wheels  ::)

That car was never plod... Certainly not a service car, as it doesn't have the calibrated speedo.

Some forces did buy the odd Elite, but never a 2.6, and would never have had bumper lights on ;D

If I were on Facearseshitbook, then I would call the seller out as a lying scuzbucket...

I'm guessing Andy knows all about that car ... given he sold it not so long ago: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=144230.0

Amazing that TVP must have put it into service since Andy sold it...  :y ;D ;D ;D

I have owned Vauxhalls for longer than I have held a full licence.
Seeing as I've had Omegas for over 15yrs, and a licence for a bit over 31, by the time I count in my Astra GTE year, Belmont months and Nova weeks, I too have had Vauxhalls for (just) the majority of the time I've had a full licence ;D

But I did have to think about it!

It is my old car. I bought it from Simon of PVS (police vehicle sales?) who bought and sold several ex police Omegas but I don't believe this one ever got abused by the police (the wiring loom was all still unmolested) .The carpet in the boot has a cut out in the middle to go round a big square box but that is because it came out of a car with a gun safe (or so I was told...........).
I spend most of my time nowadays listening to stories from my two little daughters about unicorns - I haven't got the emotional energy to spend on arguing about the provenance of a 16 year old car.
That said - if someone can find a clip from roadwars where my car makes a cameo appearance I would love to see it  :)

Simon told me that he transferred the boot carpet. Can't guarantee that it came from an ex police car though.......

In early 79 I had a brand new Sunbeam ti sat in a dealer in Liverpool waiting for me to collect and pay for it. Before I booked a ticket for the ferry I came across a Chevette HS for sale, and never gave the Sunbeam another thought.
The dealer in Liverpool was not very happy with me.

Wife started a conversation with me yesterday.
Swmbo "That bloke over the road, who seems to have plenty of money was driving up and down the road in an old car yesterday, don't know if it was an old classic or an old banger ?
Me " It was a MK1 Lotus Cortina, so more of a classic really. Very rare and worth as much as a small house".
Swmbo "why does it have stickers and stuff all over it ?".
Me " He races it."
Swmbo "so, its rare and worth a small fortune and he races it around a track . Men are such stupid creatures."

Hard to argue with the logic really.  ;D ;D

Price increased to £1500 for this "Ex police from road wars omega 2.6 v6" so it's an appreciating asset  8)  :P   ???   :-\   ;D

so the bumper and possibly the boot mat are ex police

I talked to Mrs Builder recently about how much of a classic car you can replace with other parts before it stops being the original car anymore after watching car sausage  ;D
