His business model has worked so far - maybe he is correct  ::)

I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

But, he knows how to run a business, even if it is at the expense of staff and passengers.

It costs $4,900 dollars an hour to run a 737-800/Max.

Every aircraft he flies makes 5 times that as a minimum.

He could sell tickets at a flat rate of $25 an hour per person and still make a tidy profit.

You would of course have to ask permission to do this to avoid queues.

He is hoping to introduce 40% of flights from July.  How is that going to work? Putting aside the airport to airport issues, there is then the small consideration of self isolation for a fortnight at each end. Might not be policed in the Uk but it will be in many other countries. (Motor bike racing - it has been suggested that the competitors and teams arrive a fortnight early so each event world wide would take a month! You would be lucky to get in 12 events unless they doubled or tripled up having got there).

Having to ask for permission to use loos? Self installed catheter and travel bag

I'd never work for him, and there is nowhere I want to go badly enough that I would ever use the services he offers. I'd rather drive, take a ferry, or at a push take a unicycle.

But, he has proved time and again that a big enough slice of (British) people only care about price when it comes to certain services. As long as he puts what is seems to be the lowest sticker price on a seat, people will literally scramble over one another to fill his planes.

It won't matter what stunts he pulls, or how badly he treats his customers, because his seats are cheap (or it looks like they are), his business will thrive.

I didn't watch the interview but whatever he said, it won't matter

I've never seen why people have an issue with Ryan Air.  They will get you cheaply from our cold wet miserable island to somewhere warm and sunny in the winter. Their flights are short so you don't need much in the way of in flight service like meals or blow jobs from the trolley dollies. It's no different to a bus journey really.  ;)

The problem is people seem to think that because they are getting on an aeroplane they should be treated like VIP's even if they only paid twenty quid for their seat!  :-X

I've used them and thought it was great for what I paid and I'll use them again if we ever get the chance to travel and they are cheap enough.  :y

No-one is forced to work for or travel with Ryan Air.  ::)

We almost had words when he started pressuring a pilot to push back whilst we were trying to board aa handful of assistance passengers.

Eventually word got back to us, via a sweet Latvian stewardess that Mr Oreally was getting irritable and impatient.
We politely suggested that she tell him that if he had a problem, we would gladly discuss it on the Ambilift with the passenger.

Apparently he declined ;D

Flight would have gone on time, but I think we managed to eek out a 25 minute delay on it ::)

Also, he would rather have an aircraft impounded than pay for basic services, which is at odds with how EasyJet operates, although there are similarities within their respective models.

Unfortunately we used them once I hasten to add that we did not book the flights friends of ours did who have property in Spain the whole experience was awful from start to finish , in my book you get what you pay for & personally I would sooner have paid extra for a better service , when Ryanair goes tits up I will raise a glass in celebration.😃

I didn't say anywhere that I thought there was anything wrong with it, just stating a fact.  ::) I view their flights exactly like going to a football match, listening to dance music or any one of a hundred other things, there's nothing wrong with it, but I'd rather do just about anything else other than participate.  :y

I only have a problem with charging for extras when the other more 'premium' (read: expensive) airlines adopt similar practices e.g. BA wanting an arm and a leg for a seat, then £4 for a sh!tty cup of coffee on a 7am flight and another £25 odd to pick your seat. So I don't fly with them either, as you say no one is forcing me to (any more).

Why people expect a £400 flight and a £60 flight to offer the same level of service is a mystery. I also find it equally mysterious why companies feel its acceptable.

I should explain for anyone who didn't see him , he intends to run fully occupied planes with people just wearing masks  this is his interpretation of the message from yesterday's announcement, the toilet situation he trusts people to wash their hands thoroughly if they use them, he said that there is no need to leave spaces between passengers masks are enough , even if the seats were free or they paid passengers to get on I personally wouldn't go near it  .

Hmm, it's personal choice but I'd have to agree with you, seems reckless and I wouldn't do it, regardless of who's name is on the side of the plane. But, there could be method in the madness...

The audit firms are pushing all their clients very hard at the moment to justify how they are a going concern under the current conditions. Considering they have no passengers, and not much in the way of 'fat' to cut from their operations, I imagine Ryanair are in a pretty tight spot.

It's possible/likely that in order to demonstrate itself to be a going concern, Ryanair is having to make some 'optimistic' projections about passenger numbers for the second half of the year. Today's announcement may well be part of selling a bigger story.  :y

Unlike some competitors, Ryanair have a 4 billion cash cushion. Quite rightly O'leary could say he has been prudent and not splashed the cash.

Some interesting stuff going on with Easyjet and Jet2 over slush money for new Airbus planes. Easyjet boss is offering up to 5 million for a whistleblower.  Can you believe anyone is buying new planes. ;D ;D

Three things to know about Mr Oreally...

1. He doesn't care about anything as long as his profit margin isn't affected negatively.

2. He believes that any press, regardless of positive or negative is good pr. In fact, the more inflammatory, the better as it will reach a broader market.

3. He is a complete and utter arsehole who would sell his Nan to make a profit.

Couple of points Varche.

Firstly, Mr Oreally will be buying up unsold 737 Max for peanuts. Secondly, EasyJet are actually in a similar financial position.

Secondly, EasyJet are making payments on aircraft orders placed a couple of years ago in order and which were being delivered up until mid March when the last A321, G-UZMH was delivered to Gatwick. These deliveries have been paused, but Airbus contracts dictate that payments are made until the last aircraft of that order has been delivered.

Stelios is properly pissed, and quite rightly, because he thinks that the government loan is a fraud as it is only required in order to maintain payments to Airbus/French government without dipping into the EasyJet kitty. His secondary point being that given the current situation, the contract should be voided.

Jet2 have picked up six A321 orders that had previously been bought by Thomas Cook, so these will be at a significant discount over list. The bulk of their fleet are Boeing aircraft.

That's why he is multi millionaire businesman,. Point 2 is a very true point, negative to a positive, and build on the positives, and don't deny the negative, just use them to get more positive PR..

Likewise here, the RRS doesn't even seem to realise it's towing a 26 foot twin axle van just looking forward to being able to use it.

I never had much problem keeping up a good pace when towing, I guess it's all these people who think towing just under the 1600kg limit with their 1.6 diesel Mondeos is a good idea.  ;D

We should've been away now .... cancelled this weekend's holidays (I only workweek ends) nothing actually booked though. I agree, it'll be a while before we manage to get out at all  :'(

I've watched weekend pikeys for years and 99% can't reverse, they drive straight into a space, or take up 3 truck spaces, My other anti caravan pleasure, is parking next to them, and putting the fridge on manual defrost while they try to have tea... ;D :D, Or just blindside it next to them, and Mable says to Sid "why can't you do that" :)

Most caravan spaces are drive through anyway, though obviously not all are. And somewhere south on the M5(?) the caravan spaces must've been intended for a Smart towing a garden trailer ...... they are stupidly small.
I don't know what type of company vehicle you drive, but it pi$$es me off when the caravan parking at the services is taken up by all kinds of white van man and bigger.

At the services on M5 cullhampton,, the only way to get into the spaces is reverse, and when there's more than 3 trucks the Weekend pikeys can't just spin round..... Hum ho,, ho hum...  And neither can some so called professional drivers, too..

It might be Hilton Park, north bound, caravans/trailers drive into the spaces, but you then have to reverse out of them. I have to bump some of my car onto the walkway in front otherwise I leave too much caravan sticking out at the back.  ::)

At least that'll save you falling into The Strid after a few beers.  :D

Got to admit that I like a beer or two ! As for  a dip in the river I'd welcome it , I usually swim at least 4 times a week & really missing it .

I have travel Ryanair, twice.  Liverpool Ringo star. To Dublin, with grown up kids and wife.  Weeks holiday at a very nice hotel in the city centre.
I think I spent more on drinks in 5 days than the flights.  I was sober by the time i got in the taxi at Speke.
