Couple of points Varche.

Firstly, Mr Oreally will be buying up unsold 737 Max for peanuts. Secondly, EasyJet are actually in a similar financial position.

Secondly, EasyJet are making payments on aircraft orders placed a couple of years ago in order and which were being delivered up until mid March when the last A321, G-UZMH was delivered to Gatwick. These deliveries have been paused, but Airbus contracts dictate that payments are made until the last aircraft of that order has been delivered.

Stelios is properly pissed, and quite rightly, because he thinks that the government loan is a fraud as it is only required in order to maintain payments to Airbus/French government without dipping into the EasyJet kitty. His secondary point being that given the current situation, the contract should be voided.

Jet2 have picked up six A321 orders that had previously been bought by Thomas Cook, so these will be at a significant discount over list. The bulk of their fleet are Boeing aircraft.

Three things to know about Mr Oreally...

1. He doesn't care about anything as long as his profit margin isn't affected negatively.

2. He believes that any press, regardless of positive or negative is good pr. In fact, the more inflammatory, the better as it will reach a broader market.

3. He is a complete and utter arsehole who would sell his Nan to make a profit.

That's why he is multi millionaire businesman,. Point 2 is a very true point, negative to a positive, and build on the positives, and don't deny the negative, just use them to get more positive PR..

Nope ;)

Still wouldn't fly with them through choice, but he is a shrewd businessman, like him or loathe him... Much like the Bearded Wonder...

No one can survive in the airline industry without being absolutely ruthless.

There are different ways of being successful...

Oreally has an air of Gerald Ratner about him...
