General Discussion Area / Re: A small computing question....
« on: 20 July 2011, 23:00:45 »
I now use Google Chrome as my default browser, but I have had reliability problems when downloading large files with it, where as I had no problems with IE. Google Chrome would always drop out as if it had completed the download, but the file was incomplete.  >:( >:(

I don't know if Google Chrome will have the same problems when uploading large files as I haven't tried it.

Anybody else had any experience of this?

Similar article in MCN a couple of weeks ago when an electric motorbike at a race meeting caught fire and took it 8 fire extinguishers to put out with the bike totalled, where a normal bike takes less than 1!!! :D :D

General Discussion Area / Re: Population decline worry
« on: 16 July 2011, 20:13:13 »
Overall world population growth is going up due to large population increases in South America, Asia and Africa. In European, USA and Japan the indigenous population is declining, which is what the video is about.   :o

This is the reverse of the last 200 years when there was mass migration to North America, Africa, Australia and New Zealand, from a large growth in Europe's population due to the Industrial Revolution and escaping famines, like those in the 1840's and 1850's in Ireland. Our great grandparents typically had about 10 children, if they hadn't most of us wouldn't be here.  ::)

What this means is that we all have to breed more or accept mass migration to here from the counties of large population growth. The alternative is to accept a decline in population and standards of living due to an ageing population.

In many East European countries their populations are declining, due to it being better to migrate to richer western European countries as economic migrants and a very low reproduction rate of about 1.2 - 1.3 children per couple. The population decline is especially bad in Russia and Ukraine, about 0.5% a year, that they now pay large sums of money to the the parents when a child is born, but the decline continues.

I would ask for a statement of damage and proof of repair. If they don't supply this, dispute the payment with CC company and report them to trading standards.

If a CC payment is disputed the payment is reclaimed from the company until it is resolved. The onus is on the company to resolve the issue, if they don't respond within (I think it is 3 months), the case is closed and you get your money back.

It is my guess this is due to not everybody that is unemployed being entitled to Job Seekers Allowance, for example if you are registered as self employed, been a company director, you are not entitled to claim.

Those that can do, those that can't talk about it.  ::)

If someone can't do anything useful in life apart from spouting lies and useless waffle, then the job for them is as a top politician, in any other job they would be known as a useless fool. :o

I think Cameron was a "PR Assistant", many other MPs have been "Research Assistants", as their total career job experience, (apart from working at a BP garage, near Silverstone, that 'The Boy' uses  ;D) which is marketing speak for their job position being somewhat lower than a "Tea stirrers, assistant's mate".  :-?

The politicians are now trying to score party political points and save their own skins, positions, salaries and pensions, not to mention their ministers cars (I almost said reputations, except they haven't got any  ::)), where they all sucked up to NI. Where I feel desperately sorry for Milly Dowler's family with their false hope that she was still alive with the deleted voice mails and other victims from 7/7, 9/11 and our brave troops where their voice mails have been hacked to boost newspaper circulations and profits. It is a totally repugnant and a total disgrace.  :( >:(

Sounds like the UK rules of engagement were made by an MOD bean counter, looking to save money on ammunition  ::)

The problem with the yanks, shoot first ask questions later is that it applies to their allies as well as the enemy!!! :D

It not only old people that have mishaps with automatics. When I was young, many years ago, the landlord of my local pub had a V12 Jag. He had been to another pub as part of the darts team. Upon his return he stopped in the car park behind a waiting taxi and went to open his garage door, as he started to return to his car he saw it was creeping forward towards the taxi and about to hit the back of it, he ran, put his left foot in the car to hit the brake pedal!!! All I can say is flooring the throttle on a V12 does an awful lot of damage.  ::) :o

General Discussion Area / Re: insurance quotes puzzling
« on: 07 July 2011, 16:22:12 »
The price of insurance is based upon risk (ie number and size of claims), so if TPFT claims are higher than fully comp, then you can end up with these anomalies.

If you are getting quotes off an aggregator websites like Money Supermarket. Confused, Go Compare, Comparethemarket, Quotezone etc., then try several aggregators as they all charge insurers different commission rates and have different commission structures, which is reflected in the price, but to keep them approximately same across all aggregators, the insurers generally change terms, particularly the excesses. Once you have chosen an insurance company, it always worth getting a quote directly off their website.
