Calories Counting
« on: 05 September 2018, 12:45:11 »

So, there are plans for calories counts on all menus. Which idiot thought that one up ? Ah The Department of Health.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-45420835

Very simple, big organisations will be able to do it as they can employ labs etc to work it all out. Your local cafe or independent won't be able to do that and will either not comply and break the law, or go out of business. And of course there would need to be checks to ensure that calorie counts are accurate. A real shed load of red tape. Maybe someone somewhere wants to sets up a consultancy to advise on compliance, at a price of course  ::)

. . . . . . also, the only people who read the calorie content of foods, are already thin

Ain't that the truth. I work on this principle: If I go into a fish and chip restaurant, I'm not expecting to find any low calorie food. Fats gits, like you  ;D, are generally happier with life, as long as you don't let the bastards grind you down with their 'advice' on healthy eating. F**k 'em, Rog, just enjoy your food.

I suspect that this will fall to the local authorities to police as part of their licensing process :-\

Restaurants and cafés etc already have to comply with allergy labels so in real terms I don't think that this will actually be such a big deal... The information is already on the packaging when it arrives from the wholesaler and I suspect that there will be a compliance time frame to enable the adjustment ;)

Whether it needs to be done is a whole different question  :-X

BTW, I eat whatever I want to eat and, the more I'm told about the rights and wrongs of it, the more I refuse to comply. I'm 6 foot tall and 13st 4lbs, and my doctor tells me that my BMI is 23 or something and it should be 18.
In my wildest dreams I tell my doctor that he is actually much fatter then me, the practice nurses are all obese and I think his time might be better spent curing sick people. But that's in my dreams, I usually just nod and bite my tongue.

In our house, there were five kids and two adults trying to get by on my dad's lorry driver wages. We ate whatever was going, and it was by no stretch of the imagination 'healthy'. Neither me nor any of my siblings have ever been seriously ill and my mum is 88 and going strong. So they can all eff off for me.
Being overweight is not so much about what you eat, more the quantity of it.

My quack suggested joining a gym and even gave me a prescription for it in order to use the local leisure centers facilities for free. Unfortunately the restrictions on times and dates were completely contrary to working night shifts ::)

Current job is much more physically demanding and have dropped half a stone in the first couple of months, so no bad thing ;)

. . . and lack of excercise. And I don't mean going to the gym, I mean just walking to Greggs instead of having pizza delivered   :-X

Get yourself a dog. Then you'll have no choice but to get some exercise, and you might even enjoy it.
Edit: Sorry Rog...I didn't mean I thought you couldn't manage a walk to Greggs   ;D

Avo toast* with mayo, BBQ sauce and grilled with a slice of gouda on top.

White bread of course, because I can :D
