There are some nice places outside of Leeds but it`s not the place it used to be, I was brought up in Yeadon near Leeds and Bradford airport and it was regarded posh, even though it wasn`t but I wouldn`t move back there now, even though where I live isn`t great.

Leeds doesn`t get any higher than an E in the insurance ratings which speaks for itself.

In six years I`m mortgage free so I might be tempted to move east towards Beverley, some lovely places out that way. York is nice too but to much of a flood risk.

I have been thinking Ossett area, Wakefield.  :-\

Ossett is quite nice, my old boss moved there from Leeds years ago as he didn`t like it there any more though he did live in East Leeds which is pretty rough, if I ever have to go there I take the works van and leave the Zed at home.

Be warned that the traffic out of Leeds on the M621 is bad between 4.30 and 6.30 and is equally bad going in after 7am.

One things for sure..that isn`t English bond  ;)

Correct  :)  stretcher bond ish  ;D
I only looked at one pic briefly
I should have looked more closely   :-[ , my 26"  pc screen's capacitors have spewed their guts
currently having to revert back to ye olde 15" till the 32" replacement restores my poor eyesight  :P

It`s a bit like a lot of the brickwork of the time, just throw in the odd half when things don`t work out (when the bricklayers can`t keep the perps plumb)  ;D

If you are looking for some real class in the picture check out the finest northern brickie brickwork. :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D

poor re-pointing ,100+ year old English bond ,
seen alot worse  ;D
and it's lasted 100+ years, bricks where not uniform back then,
I recently rebuilt my kitchen with period correct bricks ,not easy compared to modern, light, uniform bricks
and being a "brickie" involved little to no training
back then they threw walls up
better than 'some' of the crap sheds they put up today though  :o

One things for sure..that isn`t English bond  ;)

Nice  :y

How much was that to hire, did they give you some points on how to operate it? Seen a property locally we like, but needs a fair bit of work. One of these would make it far easier for painting and sorting the guttering.

Also, lovely house  :y

Love a period property like that, been eyeing a few up in the Leeds area.  :-X

I think that would be a good move for you. [highlight[Nice part of the country[/highlight]. Still got its traffic jams but as you say you get a lot of house for your money.

Nope...it`s a shithole and the infrastructure is even worse.

The north side of Leeds is the only area worth considering unless you`re looking at ten miles or more out from the centre.

If I had the money I`d be gone from here and be somewhere nice and quiet with less council housing.

Some of the lads on the Nissan forum have used Gtechniq and rate it but how much it will restore your screen I don`t know and it`s not cheap either but at under £40 might be worth a punt.

Not cheap for a budget brand.

Agreed, another £15 a corner would get you a premium tyre.

« on: 05 May 2018, 12:01:53 »
Younger lads at work talk about their £100/150k mortgages e.g. amount borrowed & monthly payments. Some of their payments aren't  much different from what I was paying late 80s/early 90s on a £22500 mortgage ..... but that was back when interest rates were up to 15%. For their sake, I hope interest rates never get anything like that again.

I remember that time,my mortgage doubled in what seemed like months :'(

I actually paid 16.5% for the first year because I took out a 100% mortgage which came with a penalty of 1.5% for 12 months.

I used the deposit to buy a new Yamaha FJ1200. :).......being sensible was never my strong point. :)

Sounds like the sort of thing I`d do.....need new windows and kitchen........whoops...where did that 370z come from  ::)

NON LSD =l
LSD         = l l
the black marks you leave on the tarmac after heinz acceleration

heinz acceleration = "giving it beans "  ;)

carltons and sennys (1986- 1994) saw the launch of ACT (advance chassis technology)
marketed with "puts the skids under it's rivals"

video clicky

This is the passive rear wheel steer with the use of a void type inner bush on the rear wishbones and was carried on to the Omega.

the carlton/senny LSD required a special diff oil / additive
if un-serviced or left un-used for long periods the diff looses its LSD capability IIRC
Same as the LSD on the Omega, some of the Ex Plod Omegas that the went into Private hands got screwed up this way, even if they went into a Vx Dealer for Servicing.  :'(

worthy of a mention .just in case someone decides to retro-fit an lsd that's been sitting in storage since 1990  ;D

Unless it was correctly stored, either full of diff oil or drained. I think the problem was when the clutch plates were only partially covered by the diff oil.

They weren't standard on Senators.  ;)

No but many had them unlike the Omega

Being poor I wash my own cars. :y

You pay the 'illegals' £4 a pop to clean the Astra. :)

Being middle aged and anal, I also wash my own car, who knows what shit they use to get the dirt off, at least I know it's getting done right when I do it.
:y

If you care about your car don`t take it to someone who doesn`t to get it washed  :y

It might be cheaper to find one from a Carlton GSi 24v or Senator and transplant the internals, IIRC the internals are the same but the casing is different due to the mounting.
