« on: 11 July 2017, 20:09:22 »

hi people. my 2003 2.2i battery went flat. jump started it all good, but radio now in safe mode.  I have tried to enter code, by the book, but to no avail. safe mode, and will not alter. I have entered code previously, no problem. my question is, if previous owner entered wrong codes, and all ten used up, is it now stuffed? or does the coding reset to ten trys each time the right code is entered. I note there is nothing else other than safe on the display. in anticipation, thank you all.

If the reg is BT03TOA then that's not the original Headington.

I am afraid you have confused me. (although that is easy) didn't mention in earlier post it is a CDR2005. is it just a matter of waiting, because of the anti-theft. but as stated, display does not show amount of tries left, just SAFE.

Sold a 2.2 Sport to a dealer in Manchester... That was its reg. I had changed the head unit from a CCR2005 to the CCRT2008...

What does the handbook say on the subject?

hi, understood, the 2.2 sold to dealer. I note ronomega post, 9/11/2013 had the same problem. SAFE, and unable to enter any info. this is the problem I have after discharged battery. no other info, just stuck on safe. it simply will not accept any instruction.I just wondered, if any one else had any info to add. I have entered code on previous occasion, with no trouble. have a nice day.   :)

Does your volume knob (the one you supose to push before even entering the code) still works ok? On my HU that button only works when pushed up and on the right side. If someone would try to enter the code without knowing this they would have the same problem you have. No reaction from the HU.

Try turning off and on the unit first to see if you get a correct reaction from that knob. Because you have to hold it for a few seconds, if it has a even slightly bad contact I dont think it will work.

To enter code:

Ign on
Switch radio off (but ign stays on)  ***this step not in book, but is critical***
Press/hold AS
Radio on
Release AS at beep
If prompted for a code, enter and press hold AS
if not prompted, you are in a wait state, anywhere from 10 mins to 12hrs, ign must remain on all this time (so plug in charger)
Enter code when prompted, press hold AS

If you enter correct code, but system does not accept it, **YOU HAVE WRONG CODE**, do not repeat.

I had similar problem with 2006 vectra, removed the battery for 5 min then put battery back on and it took the code then think its not safe mode as in no code think its the jump from the jumpstarter.

Disconnecting the battery will not help with radios needing code, or in a wait state due to incorrect code entry.

hi again,
as stated, safe with no number. cannot switch on or off, it is simply 'dead'  chazza notes interrupted power supply. this is obviously what happened when battery went flat, (although I have no idea why, and it has not happened since???) therefore, as the problem appears to be 'interrupted power supply, what do I do next? any information gratefully received.

Did you EXACTLY follow procedure above?  At the start, the ign needs to be on, and the radio off.  That is critical.

Maybe try to turn ignition on with the HU fuse removed and then plug the fuse to power it? Out of ideas here. I still think you may have a defective volume/on/off button.

That's not what I said earlier.

Radio off
Press hold AS, keep held, turn radio on, keep button held until beep

That part of the procedure is critical

hi,
yup, tried that many times. have tried everything I can think of! it is stuck on safe, and will not accept any input. as stated previously, battery disconnected (for about six months) a year ago, and accepted code with no problem at all. very strange! thanks for your reply.

remove radio unit, without taking the the battery off. on back of radio check the micro fuse. if fuse ok leave out of vehicle for an hour, while its left out check that there is power from the main battery to the plug they should be 2 live powers with ignition on if these both ok, refit radio, info from corsa web site. power from ignition can turn on the radio but it needs power on permanently supply to store memory.

Once all ten attempts have been used, the radio will not reset itself, no matter how long you leave it on for.

I couldn`t see which make and model you had from the thread, but most of them can be reset by us if sent in to our workshop.

as a matter of interest. a few hours prior to radio working, whilst driving, I noticed SAFE disappear, and the date appeared. (no input from me) a short time later, SAFE appeared again. I left car for an hour, and when I returned, I tried holding the AS button, and turned ignition on. to my amazement, the code appeared, and accepted the code number. nope, I don't understand it, but it may assist someone else with the same problem.  :)

You were, as stated earlier in thread, in a wait state.  That has to expire before you can enter code.

If in a wait state, the ign is turned off, the wait state timer starts again from scratch.
