Didn't know I had to claim it as opposed to it being automatic. At what point do you submit the claim? Is it shortly before 65th birthday or wait until you actually hit 65?
You can claim within four months of your 65th birthday. They will try their best to make you do it online but, with you being an old codger and all (play on this, no understandee computers, etc) there is a phone line where you can at least get a forecast. Have you NI number, date of marriage, last place of work and all details of your wife ready for them.

You can get your forecast at any time, you don't have to wait until you are within four months.

It can all be done by phone, Baza. By definition, pensioners are not the best with technology. I didn't manage to get my forecast online, so I phoned up. It was comical, she spoke to me v e r y...s l o w l y like I was fickin demented. It was all she could do not to call me dear.   ;D Got a letter from them with my forecast on.

Given that he lived 50 odd years longer than expected, I think that Mr Hawkins is a fine example of an intelligent person living longer.  :y

Most people who are diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease last about 3 or 4 years.  :'(
