Italy, north of Pisa, isn't great in the winter, so now is a sensible time to not be there in the first place.

Go in June/July. It will be warmer with no flu

It's what you signed up for when you bought an Omega...

Suspension overhaul is about a grand once you've rebuilt it, fitted new tyres and got the geometry done accurately.

And needs doing every 80-120k miles depending on how the car is used.

Add in crank sensor, radiator, fuel pump, coil packs, camcover and HBVs, ant that is pretty much everything that goes wrong with them, so no, not really damming, but it is a big ticket item on a cheap car...

Never had a W211 and it if I did, it would have the M113 lump I would be incredibly picky about some of the engines offered between 2003 and 2010... V6 diesel included. Some of the issues don't manifest themselves before 100k+. Plenty of info on the Web about them stretching chains, clogging up, heavy oil usage and randomly seizing up.

That's 17 years newer programming, probably a five, six or seven speed box too

They're programmed in the engine ecu to hold revs when cold in order to heat the cats. Even the manuals do a variation of this. On my 26 mile commute, half the fuel is used in the first third of the distance.

Get used to it or change cars.
