Its been one of those days. 190 got slower and slower until it would barely move. Changed the fuel filter assuming it would cure it, but now it wont even start. ::)
Laptop charger / mains adapter packed up later today.
Drove the Omega to work tonight and when I got here, couldn't get the key out of the lock. Tried several times - wiggling, jiggling, using almost brute force, but it wont turn back to 0 and wont come out. :(

Better it got stuck in that position than in the zero position. I would not try to get it back to zero/ignition off. You should be able to dismantle the lock and clean/fix it when the key is turned to ignition on. If it sticks in ignition off position then you hav a problem:p

I had an issue with the little solenoid under the steering column that stops the key coming out when the gearbox isn't in park. Trying to remember what position the key ends up in then. The temporary fix for that one is easy - remove the cowling and unplug the solenoid. That one was such a good temporary fix that it's still working 10 years later. ;D

I will try that one first. Thanks Kevin. :y

Tray WD40 , always work!!!! :D ;D

pull the remote part of key off, apply some light tension towards you with mole grips on the horseshoe and tap the middle of the key with a panel pin hammer, usually gets the sliders to jiggle and let go of the key
Graphite type lube spray may help

The cigar goes to Mr Wood of Hampshire. Unplugged the little solenoid and its back to normal. :y :)

I've experienced that issue with Fords and GMs in the USA with auto gearboxes. I had no idea that Euro GM models had the same feature and I've been driving them for 30+ years.
Well! Well!, who says you can't learn something new every day?
