Went to my local Vx dealer to order a new key; he told me he is no longer 'enfranchised', has not a Tech2, so cannot sychronise keys. He is looking for a Tech2 clone to use. Meanwhile what should I do?

Take it to some one who can? ::)

Kevin Wood isn't too far away and possibly has access to the Candi module for Vectra C stuff :y

I think that DTM fella has our CANdi, from the time he had a Zaf-B.

But that's the easiest way - Tech2 + CANdi + Carpass + spare key with immob chip and fob.

Look in the phonebook under locksmiths.
Phone those that do cars, and ask them about your common car.
Drive it to the one that best fulfills the cost/convenience/benefit ratio.

Things not to ask/tell them:

Anything about Tech2s
That your local dealer isn't interested
That you'll supply used up parts sourced from Ebay
How many Omegas you've owned
Exactly how they'll do the job

I'm writing this at 16:30, and could have a working, programmed key by the end of the day

If your going to the expense of new key and programming by Vauxhall or locksmith ....
may as well wait till you loose the working key  ::)
which is the only time you will need a spare
so don't loose the key  :y
money saved, job done  ;D
you could have a blank key cut but not programmed cheaply for when you lock the key in the car
or just remember to take the key with you when you leave the car,put it in your pocket.
hang on a key rack at home
I've been doing this with great success ever since I learned to drive  ;)

This is not good advice. If car thieves see a desirable car, such as a Vauxhall omega, outside, they will smash through your front door to get to the keys.

They might do a 'Midsomer Murder' while they're at it!  ;D

they best be good at smashing reinforced front doors ,which will set off the alarm ,paging me ,all recorded in HD on cctv
I won't be impressed ,and I will use un- reasonable force  :-X to deter them from living doing it again

We don't all live in Barnsley, you know. :P

I dunno .. I can't decide if I'd rather they take the keys without having to come and find me, or that I got to confront them before they got the keys. The latter (despite any Internet bravado) would probably end up with me being stabbed so .. they can have the keys!

It's rough around here, anyway..

My neighbour had a mobile car key guy come to him to supply and code a new key for a Golf, and as I recall paid a reasonable price.  :y

We just had a car stolen when a mobile car guy cloned the key.....and obviously one for himself to......
