It doesn seem to point to a shoddy job of removing the towbar electrics  :-/

Sounds to me like the supply to the dashboard is not there. The reason I say that is that the alternator light is doing the reverse of the expected behaviour. Normally it has 12 volts on the supply side and the alternator grounds it before the engine starts. Once the alternator is charging there should be 12 volts at the alternator side of the light and 12 volts at the supply side meaning it goes out. In this case it obviously doesn't have 12 volts at the supply side. The current feeding through the alternator light could be enough to power the instruments erratically.

I would check the fuse(s) that power the instrument panel as a first step.

Cheers,

Kevin

Well, give us the details and I'm sure we can give him some suggestions. Whereabouts is he located?

Personally I think a Policemen in hi visibilty vest with hand held speed gun and the ability to weed out errors is best.

I spotted one of them a week ago in a 30 limit. Car speedo said 33. Tom tom said 30 so I carried on. I'd seen him about half a mile away on a dead straight road so unlikely that he got a reading before I saw him.

Got a letter in the post saying I was recorded exceeding the limit and whilst they are satisfied an occence was committed no action will be taken on this occasion :o

Now, I know GPS isn't 100% reliable in all circumstances but it consistently reads about 3 MPH lower than the speedo at that speed. OK. Worst case scenario. What if I was doing 33? What's the tolerance on their measurement? How can they be so satisfied that an offence was being committed? And was it worth the administrative hassle and expense of sending me a letter telling me they weren't going to do anything?

Kept my shredder occupied for about 3 seconds.  ::)

Nice!

We haven't had a good prank at work since the Gypsies decided to camp in the car park. Legally we could only get an eviction order after 14 days. They fscked off after 2 days when we got working on them. They should have known better than to camp next door to a manufacturer of broadcast TV equipment and expect their satellite TV to work.  ;D

We spotted the guy fiddling with his satellite dish so out with a microwave sweep generator and an antenna. Just as we saw him sit down in front of the TV through the caravan window zzzzp. No picture. Out he comes and fiddles with the dish. Perfect picture. He sits down again, No Picture. Repeat for 2 days.

 ;D

Rain-x is good on the inside of the windscreen on the Westfield. There aren't any wipers there but it needs them sometimes!

Problem is, you've got to use it regularly if you use it at all, cos it makes matters worse when the effects start to wear off.

Makes me feel silly for buying some at Halfrauds on the way home yesterday. However, I couldn't see where I was going with the old ones, so could have been more expensive I suppose.

I bet they're only $22k in the US... which works out as less than £11k at the current exchange rate :o

Reasonably nice looking but I wouldn't expect much of the build quality if the Pontiac I hired in the US is any indication.

That's true. US cars are cheap for a reason. They're disposable. Not worth paying UK prices for them.

Quite a nice looking car from the side view but I don't like the front end.  :o

I'd rather have an RX8 or an S2000 I think.

... but if the Nikasil bores go west you've had it.  :-X

Granted there are issues with some of the ancillaries on the GM V6 and no quad cam engine is that easy to work on. However, with decent maintenance you're unlikely to ever need to do major surgery.

Neither of those look like the Laser kit which has caused issues, although mine works OK :-/

Usage is self explanatory if you've got the cam belt DVD or instructions describing the procedure. Ignore the Haynes manual. It's a generic description of how to change a cam belt which omits some vital steps for the GM V6.

There's a pressure switch in the PAS circuit that detects rising fluid pressure (= steering effort) and tells the ecu to give it a bit more beans to prevent a stall.
