If I was to put the Ex wife in the back...the rear axle would snap!!!   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

You're going to burn in hell for that one!  :o :o :o

Unless she is like my SWMBO and considers the OOF site to be the domain of sad and lonely old men!  :y

Omega General Help / Testing the self levelling pump

On my old Elite I would frequently hear the pump going for a short while after I had started the engine. On my 2.6 Elite I don't think I have heard it yet. The suspension looks and acts fine but I want to know that it is working as I am returning to caravanning. Is there an easy way to test it?  :y

Omega General Help / Re: Best towbar for a V6 saloon?
« on: 12 April 2011, 08:07:00 »
Have ordered a Westfalia detatchable from a company in Chesterfield - good price and sounded like they know their stuff. According to them the towbar is now discontinued because Omegas are no longer in production, there are none of these towbars in the UK but they are getting me one from Germany!  :y

Thanks, I am almost certain that I will go for a detachable, I do not want to spoil the looks of the car. I may put a flange type on the Volvo as I have a cycle rack which requires this.  :y

SWMBO is finally relenting and we may be getting back to caravanning  :)
I need a bit of advice regarding the following:
What is the best type of tow bar for my 02 2.6 V6? I fancy a detachable.
Where is the best place to buy one from?
How hard is it to wire the electrics (I am ok with the nuts and bolts stuff)?

TOUGH ONE! Do I leave my 'pride and joy' alone and fit a towbar to the 2.4 S80 auto that SWMBO drives? The van I am looking to buy is a Swift Challenger 480 which weighs in at 1384 KG mtplm

All advice gratefully received.  :y

1) Guessing the S80 is gay wheel drive, + for Omega
2) 2.4 vs 2.6 + for Omega

Towbar fitting is not too difficult nor is the wiring.

I used a towbar kit I bought off the internet.

I converted mine to 13 pin last year.

Also depends on your stabliser

Yep FWD - don't you just hate it!

The van has a stabiliser hitch so no worries there - I hope!

Omega General Help / Re: Rear Electric Sunblind - not working
« on: 10 April 2011, 08:19:30 »
Clearly something is sticking to stop the blind from coming up, they do tend to be a pita when this happens. The problem with mine was not the external mechanism, it was inside the mechanism housing attached to the motor, one of the cogs had jumped off the bush, just got the clicking noise no matter what I did. Sorted this but it happened again so I bought a second hand motor from a breakers for £10 - problem sorted.
From what I saw when I had mine apart the external mechanism is not exposed to much that could cause it to stick? Lack of use however is certainly a factor.  :y

No, no fault codes as of yet, gonna start with a filter & new ATF I think.

You can only change about 1/2 the ATF by dropping both sumps .. the rest is inaccessible .. :( but even that makes a difference  :)

Can you remove more than half if you use a Pela suction oil extractor pump?  :-/

Fantastic help, as always.  :y The trouble is you are making it sound like such a pig of a job that you are putting me off! :o :o
Ah well, take a deep breath and go for it, after all what can really go wrong! ::)

Omega General Help / Drivers side exhaust manifold removal V6
« on: 02 April 2011, 09:40:28 »
Is anyone aware of a guide on the forum, or elsewhere, for tackling this job? I am now convinced that this is where my 'clacking' noise is coming from when cold thanks to all previous advice & suggestions.  :y

Omega General Help / Front discs on TC
« on: 22 March 2011, 22:17:49 »
Can anyone tell me what I should be paying for a pair of front discs and pads for my 02 2.6 Elite using my TC at the stealers? Are they the same as the ones fitted to my 98 2.5 Elite?  :y

Omega General Help / Re: Plug change
« on: 14 March 2011, 14:43:11 »
The tough ones are the right V as you look at the engine, try to remove the cable tray, as said you can then move the wiring loom across to allow for access. Plug 6 is a real pita!
After removing the HT leads check to see if there is any oil or debris in the plug recesses; oil - look at changing the cam cover seals,  :( other debris - blow it out with compressed air before removing the plugs.
