Go back to the Victorian way, of punishment even if kids. Hanging or if in prison, it meant all priviledges taken away. Not like today, where prisons are 5 star hotels, more or less. Vigilantes will be forming next, the way the legal system is now designed for the perpertrator, than the person who is the innocent one.

Omega General Help / Re: Crank Sensor
« on: 23 August 2022, 08:20:30 »
When i did the crank sensor, on wifes 2ltr never removed dipstick tube, as I could not get it to come out no matter, how hard I tried. Sensor can be fitted with dipstick still attached. Once all other things in the how2 have been done. :y

Be carefull if you go down the tube removal. One of the people on here, found when he tried to remove his. That it snapped near the bottom. Granted his is a V6, but just a cautionary warning.

Omega General Help / Facelift prefacelift panels
« on: 16 August 2022, 09:31:37 »
Are the wings and headlights interchangeable between Facelift and Pre-facelift?  I have been told the bonnet slam panel and bonnet are different?  I am looking for a passenger wing for a PFL but can only find FL ones.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I read on here somewhere. Loctite SI 5660, is equivalent to Vauxhall grey sealant.

Hi Veralum

For uploading pictures to here and other boards. I use this site, https://postimages.org/ it is free and you can drag and drop pictures. I set the image size to message boards, via the do not resize image option.  Once you have uploaded your photo, click on it. Then press the SHARE button , it will open a load of different links. The one you want is the direct link option. Press the button next to it that looks like a clipboard, this will copy the link. On the OOF forum, when you write your message. And want to add a photo, you select the button (it looks like a picture, below the Capital B button on the left. Then paste the link of your photo in between the img and /img. You can check if photo has loaded by doing a preview first.

Hope this helps.

Omega General Help / Re: 2.2 petrol head removal and refit

I've done a 2.0l it only took me 4 years  :) (I stripped it got another car and lost interest for while the hard bit was remembering where everything went ). how did your valves bend cambelt ?

The belt could have snapped, or slipped causing timing to go out. So valves meet top of pistons. As the engine is a interference one.

This is the mark, that can be seen with the crank pulley still on. To do the timing belt, the pulley has to come off.

The mark on the pulley, lines up with a cutout at the bottom of the crank shield.
You can just see it on here. It is a notch. The crank mark is about the same size, in width. On the picture I have just timed the engine up. And have fitted the locking tool into the cam sprockets.

Omega General Help / Re: Gear Box Fault Code from "Engine Side"
« on: 02 August 2022, 09:25:43 »
The sensor is on the end of the box near, to where the propshaft attaches. I am not saying yours is the same, but cleaning the selector switch. Then changing the gearbox filter and new fluid, sorted the same sort of problem on mine. Maybe cleaning selector switch, on the side of the gearbox first, might sort the problem for you?  Also easy to do. There is a how2 in the maintenance section.

label everything where connectors came from and vacuum pipes, and take as many photos as you strip the pieces off the head. Will make rebuild so much easier. Fitting a new timing belt kit and water pump, will be easier as you have removed the belt anyway. Also a timing locking tool for the cams is a must. Will assume you are already going to be changing the valve, stem seals. It isn't a hard job to do. Plenty of helpfull people on here if you are not sure of something. :y

Omega General Help / Re: Diff Axle shaft seal
« on: 29 July 2022, 08:25:35 »
Err - are you talking about replacing the two "Axle seals" or the (one) "Input shaft/pinion seal"? Or all 3?

The two "Axle seals" where the axle shafts go into. I want to change the seals, while the diff is off the car. Not touching the pinion shaft seal, I have been guaranteed that it is OK.

Also forgot to ask, can I just fill it with EP90 as it was drained for sending. Or is there some other thing that has to be used? It is not a LSD diff.

Thanks for any help.

Omega General Help / Diff Axle shaft seal
« on: 28 July 2022, 13:54:37 »
I have a guaranteed good second hand diff, for the 2ltr omega. As the one on it is no good. The whine is unbearable from it. I want to change the axle shaft oil seals on the new one, while it is off the car.  Can someone tell me if this is the correct seal I need?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143186723717?hash=item2156980385:g:QSQAAOSwe~lcmMRi#vi-desc-maincntr

Also do the old seals just pull out, and new ones tap in or does the circlip that can be seen have to come out, or does it not needed to be touched?

Thanks for any help.

General Discussion Area / Big thanks to GastronomicKleptomaniac
« on: 25 July 2022, 15:44:21 »
Just to say thanks to GastronomicKleptomaniac for coming over. Even though he is just back from a break. To sort out leaking cam cover gaskets on the 2.6. I am suprised there was no EML on as all plug wells were full. When the covers came off, it looked like a YTS trainee had fitted the gaskets. There looked liked half a tube of sealant was used.

All cleaned and back together and running sweet.

I think he took a pic of the mess. Hopefully he might put it on here.
